Flying tomato is the best pizza in this town

I visited a couple of years ago. Sorry to say I really don’t remember the food. All I remember is the smell – bad ventilation I’m assuming. Sometimes you don’t notice the odor until you walk out but I was noticing it while there and walked out of their smelling like the food/grease/etc. . . won’t go back. Maybe they’ve changed their ventilation system by now. . .

Chicago style pizza is excellent. Service was excellent! Will be back. Also anyone who orders Chicago style pizza should know you will have to wait some time. That deep dish crust doesn’t bake as fast as a regular pizza!!!!

Great choice for pizza and sandwiches. I eat at Wig & Pen a lot because virtually everything on the menu is great. Their thin crust pizza isthe best around here .I like the flying tomato style, but sometimes they go overboard on the cheese. Their Chicago style crust is ok…I order it the least of the three. They do a good job on their pastas. The wigatoni is excellent and one order can feed two people. Their spicy sausage is spicy. Their sandiwches are the hidden ogem of the menu, even though there’s a full page of them. I haven’t tried the reuben or BLT, have tried the other sandwiches multiple times. My least favorite is the meatball sandiwch. It’s ok. A fork is typically needed to eat this sandwich since the bun gets soggy. I always have high hopes when ordering this sandwich but am disappointed by the taste. maybe a little more spice is needed in the sauce and sausage. The pubber is a great burger. It’s always juicy and has a wonderful flavor. It’s probably my favorite burger in town. When ordering a sandwich, order the homemade chips. Way better than the fries and the fries are delicious! They have some good lunch specials too. Wednesday is all-you-can-eat soup and salad for $7 or so. Their house dressing, a garlic parmesean, is really good. I don’t know if it’s homemade or comes in a 5-gallon container, I don’t care, I’ll still eat it. Their soups are usually good too. On Fridays, they serve a BBQ pulled pork sandwich and side for $7. It’s better than any other BBQ sandwich in town. It’s served right too…sandiwch with cole-slaw on the side which can be used as a sandwich topper, plus fries (or chips).

AWESOME!!! PHENOMENAL!!!. We have been to Wig & Pen on several occasions. Each time we have tried a different type of pizza. All have been very very good! Even compared to Chicago deep dish it is better. Order a large & take leftovers home to pop in the microwave & be prepared to feast once again! Heats up really well. I don’t understand why people who order deep dish witch about how long it takes to cook. If you want fast, order the thin (sausage & green olive was a surprising hit). Our servers have all been more than attentive & courteous. Young, yes but we all to start somewhere!! We would highly recommend &/or take friends from out of town. Appreciate the varied beers on tap also!!! Great place, love it!!!

Good thick crust pizza. The mushrooms were from the can though, which isn’t my favorite. The cheese and jalapenos were good. A spicy pizza with plenty of leftovers. There were plenty of drink options. The wait to get the pizza was lengthy with no apologies or reasoning as to the delay (they seemed dead). But it was worth it. The pricing was also reasonable.
