Much to our dismay, Al’s was closed yesterday, as in looking permanently shuttered. We’ll miss the great Czech food. Hope there’s another reincarnation. RIP to our favorite toad!
We had read previous reviews, and the Blue Toad met expectations. Very casual bar/tavern type, friendly efficient service, good menu selection. We were after the Czech food, which was pretty good.
No fifth star, as it’s a bar and ambiance not exactly happenin’, but they have a wonderful menu and the best waitresses. Order some massive Czech meal and a Staro beer yum!
Food was okay but the wait was extremely long. Part of our group was through eating before others even got their food.
we found this place, accidentally, because it was an usual name. A great Midwest feel with very pleasant staff. not your typical bar food, but very outstanding. menu is quite varied, and even serves Czech food.
the rest of the food is run of the mill greasy bar food, but the czech menu is fantastic (and very generous!)
Very good menu with very reasonable prices and good service. Very convenient location, just down the street from the wonderful Czech-Slovak museum. A definite stop for a meal before or after visiting the museum.
