Less crowded than the more popular places for breakfast, but the food is just as good. We had breakfast for 5 ranging from the Iowa and Colorado Omelets to Bacon & Eggs, plus one order of Fiber Fruit Pancakes… ALL good. Same for service.

Best Breakfast in Town. This tiny, locally owned restaurant is the BEST PLACE in town for breakfast! American Skillet has been around for awhile and is popular with locals. Food quality has always been the big draw for us, A new cook means the speed of food coming out of the kitchen is now great. If it looks crowded when you get there don’t panic. The tables turn over quickly and it’s worth the wait. Excellent service and food. If you come regularly they will remember you which is always nice.If you have a large group (over 6) you might want to try out one of the family’s other restaurants, Cibo or Lava for a Sunday brunch buffet or try to avoid the Sunday morning rush around 10.
We had a bacon cheeseburger, Eggs Benedict, and fruit and granola pancake! All good, all satisfying — only the pancake was remarkable . Blue table and decor have a light charm! Please DRAIN YOUR PACHED EGGS! I’d go back, I’d recommend it, it seems to have no pretense and a sincere sort of service appropriate numbers of visits with coffee and questions about our needs. If I didn’t have the close-to-home and very tasty Mount Vernon skillet I’d come often. The coffee was just right for their style, unsophisticated American coffee, light but not flavorless!
Get the Fruit and Fiber pancakes. This is a great little gem of a place with good service and great prices.
One Saving Grace. Orange Juice bad (obviously not even remotely fresh), bacon bad, Dallas Skillet was ok, Omelet seemed amateurish. The one saving grace, the Fiber & Fruit Cakes, which I had read were good, were actually quite good. It’s basically a pancake, set up on one side, adding granola, cinnamon to the other, and then finishing the cooking with the granola. A bit of crunch, some pancake, some blueberries and some butter and syrup. It’s like a dream imagined in a pot smoker’s haze.
