Still in shock. I very rarely write a bad review and I did not have high expectations but this may have been the worst Chinese food I have ever had in my 60 years on this planet. The staff, by contrast was very pleasant but the food was a total disappointment. The hot and sour soup was a pale, bland imitation of the real thing. It was weak and practically tasteless. I’m not sure why but it had carrots and peas which don’t belong there and lacked oyster mushrooms, tang and heat which do. The dominant taste was salt. The garlic shrimp was equally diasappointing. The shrimp, which tasted old, we’re in a bland sauce with mushrooms and an overwhelming amount of water chestnuts. The hot braised chicken waa neither hot nor braised. It was breaded and fried with a salty, bland brown sauce. I ended up eating the rice and fortune cookie.The owners of a Chinese restaurant do not have to be Chinese but they should be willing to serve authentic food. If I were doing a makeover I would scrap the menu and the recipes and start from scratch, replacing very bad food with more authentic tasting, interesting dishes. I am truly sorry to have to write this because the staff was very kind and accommodating, but I paid good money for takeout I couldn’t even eat.

Excellent local eatery. Situated in a old strip mall, Beijing Chinese Restaurant may not look like much but the food is very good, the prices are low, and the service is great.
Tacky red vinyl chairs, tan Formica tables, red indoor/outdoor carpet, hip hop music totally unappropriate for Chinese restaurant…what’s not to like? Actually, food was good and plentiful and reasonably priced. I had the braised chicken…quite good. Will return.
