Absolutely my favorite breakfast place in Cedar Rapids! Love the omelettes and daily specials. And the service is quick and waitresses are friendly. I definitely recommend The Breakfast House!!

Never Disappointed. I’ve been going to The Breakfast House for years and am yet to be disappointed. Service and food are always speedy, not to mention tasty. It seems that since they flooded and remodeled business has boomed; it’s no longer my awesome-secret-breakfast-spot in C.R. but oh well. Just thinking about their omelets is making me hungry!

About as good as C.R. can offer. I am kind of in love with the Hamburg Inn and might have held expectations of that establishment coming into The Breakfast House.I wasn’t too disappointed and overall was quite pleased.Every parking spot was taken when we arrived at 10am on a Saturday, and when we found a spot and came in to the restaurant, it was packed. A good sign.I was very happy to find that The Breakfast House offers both regular half & half and French Vanilla creamer at its tables. I probably woulda been happy just for that reason. I got the veggie omelette (comes with hashbrowns and toast) for $7.49 and the omelette was packed with veggies but had low quality cheese melted on top – not the Cheddar and Swiss I was expecting. More like sliced American. The toast was quite good – the hashbrowns so-so.My comrade got the stuffed french toast (served with cream cheese and fresh blueberries inside). Blueberries weren’t exactly fresh – more like canned or frozen – but still, we weren’t deterred.Even though the ingredients aren’t stellar, it’s a good atmosphere and a nice local spot. Service was great and we will probably go back…next time we might stick with pancakes and toast.Overall, B+ – worth a try and a nice local business.

I went to breakfast house for the first time with my boyfriend today. We were both in the mood for a good breakfast but were not sure where to go. Normally I love the breakfast at the hamburg inn downtown Iowa city and I was excited to try something new. It is a small place with an open view of the kitchen and booths filled with people. We picked a Sunday morning so yes, there was a wait but the turnover was quick. We shortly got a table after about a ten minute wait. We got omelets and shared a buttermilk pancake. It was delicious!! Fast and efficient service, amazing grub and overall positive experience. I would recommend this place to any breakfast food lover. My boyfriend and I are very eager to grab lunch there one day as well!

Their food is absolutely amazing. The service the waitresses provided is very good also. You need to try this place. The proportions are huge also!!

Awful! First of all it smelled like paint had been thrown on tobacco stained walls with pine sol thrown on the floor. The biscuits and gravy was more like puffy crackers and salty water with chunks of sausage. The cinnamon roll somehow, and I didn’t know you could mess up a cinnamon roll, tasted like some sort of cleaner. The French toast taste like bacon, which for some I guess is a good thing. Don’t waste your money there.
