Quite possibly the worst Chinese-American food I ahve ever tasted.. As a food enthusiast I dont normally write reviews that are negative, unless they are so negative that I feel it is my responsibility to warn unsuspecting students, families and all the rest. I entered the restaurant a few short weeks ago and ordered a plain order of Fried Chicken Wings and a Kung-Pao Chicken Combo. The first thing I noticed was the price was a bit higher than other Chinese restaurants in the area, but I chalked it up to the family-friendly dining room (empty) atmoshpere they had going in there. My order came out in 4 minutes, anyone, and I mean anyone out there reading this: if you EVER get your order from a Chinese-American restaurant in less than 5 minutes, there’s something wrong, and boy did I know it!So I took my takeout home and I, as always with my foodie cohort, attacked the food with joy. Joy that turned straight into WTF!!! the wings were hot, but soggier than a sweatsock after hockey practice. And the kung pao Chicken, was more like Kung Pao Soup. The shear amount of liquid in this styrofoam tray was enough to drown someone in, and it also created the illusion that there was double the amount of food in there!! What a Rip-Off! And on top of that, the wings were not seasoned at all, not one speck of Salt, trace of Turmeric, or iota of Pepper to be found! The Kung pao tasted like the celery had gone a bit bad and was overcooked to mask the taste. By appearance of the restaurant I did not expect any issues. Maybe this is one of those cases of a Generation-Y buisiness owner failing to uphold the standards of the previous generation? Or maybe its just laziness, greed and complacency showing its ugly head in the food world again. A shame if you ask me, and I hope they can do better. Do avoid.
Good. I agree this food is way overpriced but there is nowhere else to get hot fast Chinese food this good anymore. You can go to peis and over pay and wait. I miss yen ching when they had the best food and service. I love the food but yes I shouldn’t pay 60 bucks for 2 pints of food and a pint of soup
Substandard Chinese food. Positive comments made me try the Egg Roll House after last visiting quite a long time ago. Not much has changed since then. If you like excessive salt and oil with your food then this is the place for you. The egg rolls are decent though overpriced and be warned that you will need to degrease them before consuming.
