STAY AWAY. Party of 8. Two ordered Taco Salad. The salads were large. Came with one container each of sour cream and salsa. Each container held about a tablespoon. Asked for more salsa. When the bill came we were charged and extra .75 for that tablespoon of salsa. One ordered lasagna. The portion was like a child’s portion. Chicken Caesar Wrap tasted like they had poured olive juice in a couple of spots. All the meals were mediocre at best. Pour excuse for a restaurant.
Vitos used to be one of my favorite places in Cedar Rapids… so disappointed at the negative turn they seemed to have taken. I’ve been there twice in the past few months and both times the service was absolutely horrible! I’ve never written a review of a restaurant before, but I was so appalled by the service I felt I had to warn people. Once, it was my husband and me and we had to flag down a busser (not once but twice) to get ANY attention from our server. Then, a few months later I was there with 4 friends and the same thing happened. I’ve never dined and dashed before, but our server took so long getting us our bills that I was seriously considering it. Both times our servers were less than pleasant, acting like it was a real inconvenience to be taking our orders and our money. Both times the place was fairly busy, but I’ve certainly seen it busier, and got better service, in the past. I’m not sure what’s going on with the place, but we won’t be back.
Disappointed. We sat outside, waited 15min. before a drink-order, then an additional 10min. to get them. Received our soup/appetizer after quite a bit of waiting. Soup was nearly cold (both of them), appetizer was good; but 5min. after we got our appetizers we got our food!!! WTF??? The food itself was good, just poor preparation and time management of staff. Annoying.
Not going back!. Party of 6 on a Friday night that wasn’t busy, but the service was lacking. Slow to get menus, drinks and food. 3 people at our table ordered the French dip and the meat was like a piece of shoe leather filled with fat and grissel. The sandwich was so bad that we mentioned in to our waitress, who brought it to the attention of the manager. They took $1.92 off the bill! Wow, and the manager didn’t even bother to come to the table to explain after we suggested to the waitress that it wasn’t a satisfactory resolution. We won’t be back.
The best thing on the menu is the clam chowder soup, everything else I’ve tried is pretty average. The atmosphere is good but there is just something hard to pinpoint that I don’t really like. The main reason I return is the location is close to where friends work and they are able to meet there.
Decent food, reasonable prices. French Dip was good, but nothing spectacular here.
