Best Steak in Town. If you want a great steak you have to go to Winifreds. Best I’ve ever had. Don’t bother with their sides – they are tasteless. When it says dill potatoes, they should taste like dill. The atmosphere is great – not changed much since it used to be Leonardo’s back in the 80’s. The service is always good – no matter what size the group.
Did not like. All the flavors were off. Too much ceyenne in seafood portobello app, lobster bisque overcooked and bitter, fish without enough salt and too much lemmon( and a thousand capers), dessert tasted like out of freezer.
My husband and I came here for our anniversary and it was wonderful. The food was perfect and the service was fantastic. I love the old school mobster feel of the place.
Winifreds is somewhat deceiving! A pink brick building that seems a little mobster style has amazing steaks and food. My boyfriend and I love trying new places and since he is somewhat of a steak conessiuer, we were eager to try this place out. I got the beef prime tenderloin that I was able to select from a display. The servers are extremely educated on the menu and cater accordingly. Constantly on top of refilling wine glasses and offering taste tests of different desserts, I truly felt pampered from the moment I walked in till I left. My boyfriend, who really knows what he wants in a steak was also impressed. He got the bone in ribeye and also tried some of their French onion soup for an appetizer. Overall, a great spot for a date night (although the ambience is a little dark and pinky) or just a nice steak dinner. Worth checking out!
By far this has the best service and food in town!! Hands down their beef Wellington is the best thing on their menu!!! It’s to die for! You do have to get over the exterior of the building which looks like it belongs in a third world country! Once you do however you are in for a treat!
Great Catering. We’ve had them cater our office Christmas party several years in a row. Everyone has really enjoyed their food. They have a nice menu to chose from.
Excellent meat, fine wine. These folks have been preparing and serving some of Cedar Rapids best food for a really long time. The prices are a little steep if one is accustomed to burgers. Compared to similar food and wine is large cities, Winifred’s is half the price.Great house salad, baked potatoes, excellent steaks.
