Amazing Hidden Gem. My family and I have been getting sick of chain restaurants and fast food, so we decided to check out some of the local hole in the walls. Duncan’s was our first stop and my goodness it won’t be the last time we show up. I had the Jumbo Cheeseburger with bacon. They forgot my bacon the first time around, but after asking very nicely they brought out 5 HUGE strips. The burger was amazing, and the toasted bun was soft, while still having a nice crisp. My mother got the hot roast beef. When she was asked for half or full order, she got the full. Boy was that a mistake. A full order is a FULL order. Her whole plate was loaded with a hot roast beef sandwich and mash potatoes. She had to take half of it home. My brother ordered the pork tenderloin. No joking the size of his face. The single burger sized bun around it seemed comical almost. We all loved the food and the staff was amazing and nice for only having 2 people on the floor. All together for all that food, a cupcake, Pie and Fried Cauliflower added up to $40. Which really was a steal for all the left over we had. Most of the people seemed to be older, but as we left we also found out people over 55 get a five Percent discount while anyone over 65 gets a fifteen percent discount, which might explain the crowd. Only really big downside was the hours. Duncan’s is only opened from 7am to 2pm, so if you are looking for a dinner date, look someplace else
Love Duncan! It’s been a family favorite for years. Gray is always friendly n fast!
Good food & great service!
Good Diner Food. Ate here for lunch on a Friday in July.I ordered the Pork Tenderloin sandwich. It was very large and very tasty. It came with chips (not homemade chips, but bagged Lays), but I opted for fries. They were frozen out-of-a-bag fries, but were good. I also ordered their cinnamon roll and it was decent-sized and very tasty too. From the outside it appears you’re about to enter some trendy urban gastropub or diner, but once inside it’s quite evident you’re in a diner.Lunch clientele is definitely on the older side. Dcor is dated and furnishings are cheap.Overall, solid diner fare with friendly service.
I LOVE this place. I have been a resident of Council Bluffs my entire life, and I managed to be unaware of this Cafe for over twenty years. The first time I ate there I had an oversized portion of hashbrowns topped with every yummy breakfast add on you can think of. I was suprised at how reasonable the price was for such a just plain delicious breakfast and have been back about 15 times since then. The other great surprize was at how genuinely fantastic the staff was. Fully packed, this cafe was serving at least 40 people on one particular day, with just one waitress. I know it sounds like a recipe for disaster, but she was so unbelievely attentive to all of her customers that I left her a $20 tip… on a $18 meal.Hats off to you folks… see you again on Sunday!
Old time cafe.. The food is very good and there is alot of it. One of my favorite places in ther area.
Grandma’s homestyle cooking!. Although I am not a fan of breakfast, I enjoy eating here with my husband. The lunch special is always great and usually comes with pudding or some type of corny homemade fluff. True midwestern cookin’ and easy on the pocket book. Service is quick despite the place is always packed. Clean too.
