Absolutely the Best!!. I visit Des Moines every other week from Chicago. My family reccommended 5 de Mayo and I must say it’s simply the BEST! Authentic Mexican food adored with flavors that tantalizes the taste buds. The frozen margaritas have a fresh lime/ tequila flavor and the wait staff is so friendly you feel like a part of their family.
At 5 de Mayo, they have great customer service, and delightful authentic Mexican food. I love their variety of entrees! Best Mexican food!

Great Prices, Real Mexican Food. 5 de Mayo’s food is better and more authentic Mexican than what I got most of the time when I lived in the southwestern U.S. The last time my wife and I went, we had a Parrillada Mar & Tierra 5 de Mayo – combo of seafood, meat and chicken marinated and grilled and served with cheese quesadillas, tomato and avocado slices. Words don’t do it justice – take a look at their website: http://www.5demayomr.com where you can see their entire menu complete with pictures and prices. I sometimes treat myself to one of their great lunch specials, too. If this isn’t the most authentic, Mexican restaurant in town, I don’t know what is. Leave your big bucks at home; you won’t need them.

The best Mexican food in town!. I am hooked! I eat at this place at least once a week! their 1.50 margaritas on mondays, is great, plus their salsa is to die for, , my favorite is the Hawaiian Fajitas which can easily be shared, this plate is huge!… I also enjoy their new burrito loco and the variety of enchiladas. The service is great, and there is something for each member of my family at great price per plate! Definitely recommended!
5 De Mayo Restaurant Deserves Recognition. Little do many people know, but this is the best Mexican restaurant in Des Moines, Iowa. They are conveniently located across the street from Wal Mart on S.E. 14th Street. The prices are perhaps a little lower than most other restaurants in town. Salsa is the most important aspect of any mexican restaurant, and their salsa is outstanding. Not too watery, consistent every time you go, and enough kick to keep you coming back. By the way, I eat at this restaurant 2 to 3 times per week. Now the food. I highly recommend Alambres Asados for lunch. It is one of the tastiest lunches you will ever experience. For dinner, I recommend the Burrito Mexicano. It is by far the tastiest burrito I have ever had in my life!! Hope to see you there!!
