Food and service. I have never had a steak that was so thin that you could almost look through it. Not only thin but tough. Our problem is we never complain.I’m complaining now. There was four of us and we all had the same thing. None of us liked it. Not only was the steak bad but the service was horrible. She did not like us because we were drinking. Looked at us funny every time we ordered a beer. We usually like going there on Fridays. We were there about 1:45 on 05/09/14. Our son and his girlfriend were with us and they are servers. They did not like it either and they usually don’t care. Don’t know if we will be back.

Terrible customer service. The server was rude and when SHE confronted us about the gratuity all she said was she was sorry we felt that way. We asked to talk to the manager but he wouldn’t talk to us because he was busy in the kitchen (cooking for an empty restaurant while other employees mulled around!). If the manger can’t even provide good customer service I guess I shouldn’t be surprised the servers don’t care!

Not that great. Dried out ribs- over cooked pasta, all in all mediocre

A Very Good Meal !!. This place has always been known for having a great salad bar. It is still there and it still has a large selection of fresh choices. Menu choices are still very good ($14-$30) and all come with the unlimited salad bar. Keep an eye on the prices, it is easy to get a little carried away. One large beer on tap was $7.50. About 25 bottled beer choices and house wine was reasonable at $5 a glass. We had Baked Spaghetti and Baked Shrimp Scampi. Both tasted excellent! Portions could be a little larger, but you’ll get full with the salad and bread. Service was fun, friendly, and very attentive. They have plenty of parking on both sides of building. The only thing we didn’t like were the acoustics in the booth area. You can hear each and every word from every booth. But don’t let that stop you from enjoying a very good meal.

Family Icon. Our family is come to Chicago Speakeasy for over 30 years. We love the remodel and the menu. This last weekend though two in our party ordered the Shrimp Scampi and it was very overdone. We probably should have said something but we didn’t. Besides that the food is wonderful but would definitely not order the Scampi.

Should be a historic landmark. This place is so awesome, it should be on all state and national maps as a historic landmark. Seriously, it’s hands down one of the best restaurants in the state of Iowa. I know that’s cliche but if the shoe fits, wear it.

I love the salad bar, and the menu items aren’t too bad either. This is my go to place for good food and comfortable atmosphere. Love the 1920s mobster theme.
