Grazi grinder was amazing!!. Great atmosphere! Best grinder Ive had in all of Iowa and Im a local. Not too dark or bright for lighting and the waitress who waited on me was nice and never left my soda empty. Great eats, good price. I was even lucky enough to chat with both her and a local comedian from around the area. Place isnt exactly a hole in the wall its three huge rooms. Gratzi for Grazi and I hope people that had a problem give them a second chance because I’m two for two with good eats here: pick up and dine in.
For those of you that have commented about their pizza tasting like sauce is because it is authentic chicago pizza. thats the way its made. I LOVE ITit does also take around 30 minutes but call ahead and when sit down, its ready
After the first visit of terrible service and round of meals for the family I thought I’d give F&O (Merle Hay location) another try. This time I ordered their Chicago style pizza…and oh boy what a mistake that was! Nothing but huge chunks of sausage, tomato paste and very dry crust. Not to say something hard that I swore (at the time) chipped my tooth. However the chicken wings at the WDSM location was wonderful! Thanks co-workers for persuading me to try the other location!
Best Pizza in Iowa. This is the only restaurant in Iowa that makes a Chicago pie the right way. These pizzas rival any of the best Chicago joints. Hopefully I’ll be able to ship pizzas to my out-of-town apartment soon so I don’t have to wait until I go home for the best pizza in America. It takes about 45 minutes to get a Chicago-style pie done, but you can also call ahead and have them start making it before you get there. They also have a full menu with Italian chicken, pastas, and salads and a pub at the Merle Hay location. Definitely worth the wait though!
Overall disappointing. The …. Overall disappointing. The first time the pizza took 30 minutes to get there & was bland, but it was the cheeseburger pizza so I thought maybe I ordered the wrong item. Second time a regular pizza again took 30 minutes (FYI that’s way too slow in-house) and was pretty bland.Third time I just wanted some place to read over my 45 minute lunch, & since they’re really close to work I went there again, trying to be positive-minded. The pizza again took WAY too long-40 minutes!!!! And it wasn’t tasty. I won’t waste my money or time there again, and I’ve told everyone I know who might consider it. Most who’ve been there b4 said yeah it’s hit-or-miss. I won’t miss it again.
Felix and Oscars a sad disappointment. I am typically a person that doesn’t complain about restaurants and has much sympathy for wait staff as I was a waitress myself and not very good. However, my experience at Felix and Oscars was horrible. After arriving we decided to the pub side of the restaurant and order a drink while we waited. However, no one came to greet us and after 10 minutes we got up and asked another table that was waiting if they had seen any wait staff yet. They stated no. We went back over to the restaurant side hoping to have better luck there. We informed the hostess that there was only one bartender and no wait staff on the pub side and she said she would quickly take care of that. We waited 20 min to be sat and then our waitress came up to us and stated that she was sorry and we could hate her if we wanted because she had forgotten us. We said it was ok and ordered our drinks, appetizer and meal. After waiting another 10 min we walked out. We had now waited without even getting a drink for over 40 min and had been sat twice. We left and ate at Old Chicago at Merle Haye were immediately sat and served drinks. I am ok with waiting for good food, however the service was horrible and I felt as though we were invisible. I hope to try and use my groupon coupon that I had purchased at the West Des Moines location for a better experience as I have heard that they have good food.
Bland and Cheeseless. A guy I was seeing ordered this pizza bragging about how amazing it was. I hated it. The crust was bland, and really just had no taste. The pizza’s cheese was not visible and the whole pizza tasted like I was eating tomato paste. I was truly disappointed. Not worth the calories.
