I have to give Fong’s credit for taking Chinese dishes and putting them on pizza. I appreciate pizza that stands out. I ordered the Egg Roll Pizza, featuring cabbage, mirepoix, wontons, chicken, and Graziano sausage topped with a sweet chili sauce. It was awesome, though the sauce got to be overwhelming after awhile. While we waited for our pizzas, we noticed that they sold slices. One of the pizzas was a cheese, honey and garlic pizza with an alfredo sauce base. They couldn’t make this pizza fast enough because people were buying these slices so fast. Admittedly, it looked really good. Also, we placed to-go orders because good luck getting a seat at this place. Even after 11:00 on a Saturday night they were packed, despite closing at midnight.
This brings Italian food and Chinese food together and surprisingly it was a really good combination. I had the pizza egg rolls. Basically a piece of pepperoni pizza inside an egg roll shell they were the best thing I’ve ever eaten. 5/5 because the food was fresh and really good service.
The first time I ate here was shortly after the place opened and was after a night on the town. I just experienced the place for the second time during lunch. The food was great, service was a little slow. I would go back again for lunch, but to really get your money’s worth it should be experienced at happy hour or later.
A Must in Des Moines. Our favorite items on the menu are the Crab Ragoon Pizza and Thai Chicken Pizza, and the Crab Ragoon Rolls.This the first that I heard of Asian-inspired pizza and the restaurant has taken pizza to a whole level.There is a lot of bar crowd during the dinner hours on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday so lunches are the best time to relax and enjoy the place and food.The restaurant also has some unique portions for drinks in unique glasses.
People told me it’s best to eat here after a night of drinking and wanting a 2 a.m snacks. We came at 6:09 pm dinner time, and it was just fine. The restaurant was super busy but luckily I was late and my coworker was not. He got us a table and I did not have to wait at all.The friend that told me about the place recommended the crab rangoon pizza. Oh.. If you didn’t get it from the name already, this is a pizza joint that specializes in Chinese type toppings. Only here you’d see Hunan Chicken pizza and Fongolian Beef pizza. The concept was quite interesting but they do offer other toppings that aren’t Chinese as well.We tried the pizza egg rolls and that was awesome. Who wouldn’t like to bite into an egg roll and get gooey melted cheese and sausage instead of cabbage? Me..me..me!!! It was a very good appetizer and I would order it in a heartbeat again.The pizzas were super thin and crispy here. We ended up ordering the crab rangoon and the Thai chicken. I had a lot of expectations as people seemed to rave about the crab rangoon pizza. I didn’t like it as much. I’d rather just eat a regular crab rangoon than eating it in pizza form. There was not much crab detected either. The Thai chicken was very good though. The small chops of chicken were sprinkled all over the pizza on top of this very peanuty sauce. The addition of some veggies and cilantro was very nice too. We didn’t leave any slice behind.Overall, it was a fun and different place. The service was great. Our server filled our drinks every chance he got. My cup never got to half he already refilled it. I was definitely happy that I tried it. I want to come back to try the other pizza and for some more pizza egg rolls!
LOVE the crab rangoons not just the crab rangoon pizza although it is AWESOME! Fun monthly specials. Great drinks fun pizza nice atmosphere. and the single slices are great for on the go.
Delishous unique experiance. Visited with group and everyone was pleased with their order.On our table we had mozzarella sticks, Pad Thai pizza and lasagna pizza which was all terrific.The pad thai has a tasty gooey peanut sauce which I thought made the pizza.We also tried a few of their huge 96 Oz cocktails which were a lot stronger than they tasted ! The ‘Funky Monkey’ was the tables unanimous favorite. The ‘Volcano’ on the other hand wasn’t overly liked by anyone on the table.
