Great Experience. I was initially just going to The Open Sesame to get extra credit for a class, but, surprisingly, I ended up really liking it. Even though the restaurant is fairly small, the lamps and the curtains and the other decorations made up for it. The lighting is very dark, but I think it is very suiting; it draws your attention to the decorations, especially the lamps. If you have never tried Lebanese food, I would recommend taking a friend with you. It just makes the experience much more fun. I would also highly recommend trying the gyro. I had one for the first time when I was there, and I really liked it. The shell is made out of their pita bread, which my friend described as Jesus in the form of bread. I am definitely going back sometime, and I am going to bring more people to share that experience with!

Fantastically decorated.. Not only is the food good here, but the interior is amazingly well decorated. It’s worth a visit just to check out how cool the inside looks.

Yum!. I just ate here for lunch, and it was great! I had the Mediterranean quesadilla it was AMAZING! So I might not have tried to most authentic item on the menu, but now I now how good there food can be, making me totally willing to try their authentic items. Quaint little restaurant, and the staff was very friendly. Awesome place to eat!

WOW. We are from the Kansas City Area and were in Des Moines to pick up a car. We enjoy middle eastern food and decided to find a restaurant. Boy did we. The food was fantastic. The hummus and the baba gnanoush were tremendous, but so was everything else. The lentil soup, the grape rolls and baklava are all prepared there and the taste proves it. We asked Mario to come and open a restaurant in KC. Don’t know if it will happen, but if not we will look forward to other reasons to come to or go through DSM in time for lunch or dinner.

Great food. I feel a bit as if I have been eating my way around the world, but through Des Moines. This was a recent stop of mine for a lunch meeting and I had the spicy Gyro, lentil soup, and a small salad. Everything was fresh, spiced and cooked perfectly, and my order was spot-on. The restaurant is a little small, but has a great atmosphere. I mentioned we atended for lunch, my only complaint, however a small one, was the server was a little unattentive. My drink was never refilled and we waited for about 10 minutes after eating to have our plates cleared and check delivered. I will try it again and hopefully it was just an off-day for that server.

If you are looking for a restaurant with dim lights, arabic music, and a labanese/Mediterranean feel to it I would recommend you to go here with your family, friends or a date. This place is easy to find and the appearance of this place is very inviting. Once you step in the restaurant you will feel like you’re in the middle east with all these pretty decorations. The food is fantastic and I recognized some of the food I learned in my class. Their French fries with cinnamon sprinkled onto it was delicious. The service was great and the employees were very welcoming. Overall this place has a great food selection and I recommend this place to anyone who wants to try something new! I am looking forward to dining at this place again!

A cool atmosphere that is both warm and relaxed. The food is really good and has an interesting Middle Eastern/Americana blend to it. Probably a fun after hours bar too.
