Love this place!. Best egg rolls and won ton soup in town, hands down. For the reviewers complaining they can’t get pot stickers, or whining that the waitress wasn’t your idea of perfect – get over it. Bet you find the worst in everywhere you go. If someone who is thinking of dining here, give it a try for what they do VERY WELL – egg rolls that are NOT small and squishy(like those from the majority in Des Moines), fantastic won ton soup, excellent egg foo young and really tasty shrimp and beef dishes. If you need a giant menu of things done alright, maybe go elsewhere. If you appreciate a local small, quaint place doing fewer things great, give them a chance!
Hmmm. Should’ve known when the Caucasian woman serving us didn’t know what pot stickers were that we were in for a treat. I clarified dumplings and she brought out something that tasted like it had breakfast sausage in it. If you are in that area and want good Chinese cuisine please take my advice and go to China Place on university near Drake.
The rice bowl serves food to travel for! When wt lived in Des Moines, we were regulars; eating in or getting take out a few times a week. Highlights would be beef fried rice, wonton soup, and service! Everything sweet and sour is amazing! The house made sauce makes all the difference! Though we’ve moved to Illinois, we regularly stop by for take out our eating in when we’re in town!
