I wish I could jump on the band wagon, but I’ll have to say honestly, Skips has lost a step or more in the last couple years. I fully underststand there has been some outside of business issues that could and should show up in food and service. That said, DSM is a different place than 10-15 years ago. It’s a good place but needs a shot in the arm and we all hope it happens soon.
One of my favorite restaurants. I tried Skips for the first time this summer with a friend. I have eaten there about eight times now and it is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is always good and the servers are always polite! Best calamari I’ve ever had! It’s a little loud sometimes but it’s worth it for the good and always consistent food and service!
Skip’s was amazing. Service was very Good. Don’t miss the chicken nachos or the augratin potatoes, both were Outstanding.
Slow service. I was super excited to try Skip’s tonight for my first time….my husband and I ordered a Budweiser and key lime martini for our drinks and waited 30 minutes to receive them. We didn’t even bother ordering food. We paid for our drinks and left. Would consider going again however the atmosphere was pretty drab and the menu selective.
Wow!. A business associate recommended Skip’s to me and 3 colleagues in town for business in Des Moines…one of the best recommendations I have ever received. Outstanding food and service….was so impressed with dinner we went back for lunch the next day. You will not be disappointed!!!!!
Chicken nachos ruined by the cheddar cheese. You need a knife to cut through it.
Skips is my favorite restaurant in Des Moines. Everytime I am home it is a must visit. Great atmosphere, great staff, great food! My favorite dish is their blackened chicken pasta, and a dinner salad topped with their homemade creamy parmesan dressing! Absolutely delicious!
