One of the best. From the gorditas to the pupusas to the nachos. It’s all excellent. The only thing I would change would be free chips and salsa like at Los Laureles. The food is absolutely amazing. No liquor license so no margaritas, but beer is available. Truly excellent food. Carne asada, carne adobada, and al pastor, as well as the carnitas are very good. If you want homemade authentic Mexican then you must eat at Mariana’s. The green salsa is great! Oh, I almost forgot the empanadas!

Authentic. Growing up, my dad used to take me to the little hole-in-the-wall mexican places in East Moline, IL. Since moving to Des Moines 7 years ago, i have constantly been searching for great, authentic, unique mexican food. Mariana’s has it! They actually don’t drench everything in queso, and they give you the option of having real mexican cheese. They offer unique dishes like empanadas and tortas. My only wish is that they had chips and salsa. While it may not be traditional, it would still be a welcome addition. Their green salsa picante is delicious! It will get your nose running.

Slow as hell but who cares. Get the pastor tacos and love it!

Great Mexican Food. It’s not as fast as your typical mexican taqueria/restaurant, because all the cooking is done by a middle aged Mexican woman. I frequently enjoy a assortment of tacos: pork al pastor, steak, tongue, and pork carnita. The gorditas are excellent as well. Grab a Negro modelo or a Jarritos and enjoy the best Mexican in des moines.
