Consistently awesome. Tsing Tsao is the best no-frills Midwestern Chinese restaurant. Period. We moved to the East side of Des Moines five years ago, and stumbled across Tsing Tsao on University by accident. Since then, we’ve gone at least a few times a month.The food is consistent, service is incredibly fast, and the value is incredible. Sure, it’s not a fancy Chinese bistro, but if you’re after a fast, tasty, inexpensive meal, this is the place to go.Some of our favorite menu items are the Kung Pao Beef, Garlic Chicken, and the Chicken & Corn Soup. If you eat in, little cups of hot tea are perfect for accompanying your meal.
By far the worst Chinese restaurant I’ve ever been to. They only have one soup option per day, a hot and sour soup that was neither. It bore more of a resemblance to salt water. They have no tofu and thus hardly any vegetarian options. They are only capable of deep frying chicken, they will not saute or steam it. So, if you want anything healthy, don’t bother.
Not very good anymore!!. This used to be the best in town over the last 6 months it has gotten worse and worse, watered down no flavor, the hot and sour soup was the only one i would eat because it was so good tonight it was horrible i doubt if i will ever eat here again
Tsing Tsao Best Chinese food in Des Moines!. This is honestly the best Chinese food I have ever had in Des Moines or anywhere else. The portions are huge, the food is excellent, and the prices are extremely reasonable. They offer carry out or dine in with excellent service. My family has frequented this restaurant many times and we have never been disappointed. I recommend the Empress chicken, it’s amazing!
