Dive bar with a decent burger. Paul’s tavern may be a dive, but the people are friendly, the burgers are decent, and the selection of beers are very good for an establishment of its size. If you don’t like taxidermy or limited seating then this isn’t the place for you. However, if you don’t mind a working class tavern and paper plates then this might be the place for you. I would go back if I am in Dubuque again.

No this place is not fancy and they do have big game animals mounted on the walls, but if you were looking for atmosphere then you wouldn’t be eating in a tavern.
