I wouldn’t think of coming to Dubuque without eating here! Wow what a great place…so many things on the menu I needed to try but we were only in town for a night! Food is the most imaginative we’ve found and both entrees we had were even more delicious than they sounded. Menu changes seasonally so be sure to go to their website for the current one. Nice decor, nice staff in a nice part of the city. Really great!
Great experience. We have never found a truly great restaurant to eat at in Dubuque before. we typically went to Galena to eat when traveling in the area. We loved our evening and dining experience at the Pepper Sprout. We are both good cooks and most of the time feel we would have had a better dining experience fixing something at home. That is why I feel so strongly compelled to write this review. The Pepper Sprout is a restaurant dining experience you must enjoy! We were cordially greeted and made to feel welcome from the start. The food is phenomenal. The hardest part will be making up your mind on what to order. The attention of the wait staff (not just our waitress) was spot on! This is one restaurant I would even drive there just to enjoy another meal.
Fantastic – Highly reccomended!. We are new to the Dubuque area and Pepper Sprouts has quickly became a favorite restaurant. The menu changes with the seasons and features fresh local food. Every meal we have had here is fantastic. The menu ranges from familiar types of favorites with a twist to fun unique yummy combinations. The bar also offers some great drinks with some great combinations such as a blueberry brown sugar mojito. If you love great fresh food that is prepared well and looking for something a step up from the chain restaurant this is a must try!
In the rotation. My wife and I regularly attend with other couples…by far the best fine dining I have ever had let alone in DBQ. The seasonal menu is wonderful and yet I lean towards the Bison filet and it is traditionally the best steak I have ever had with different variations, morel butter, truffle oil, etc. Ceaser salad is killer, ask for the anchovies. Everything is very consistently top notch and highly recommend.
Went for dinner 06/07/11. The server was very attentive and very friendly. Had a glass of wine before the meal; the house wine was one of the better house wines I’ve had in a very long time. Ordered the Buffalo filet for dinner with the house salad. Salad was fresh and crisp; dressing was amazing! Steak came out a little more medium than medium rare, but still had excellent flavor. The pairing of garlic mashed potatoes to the meal seems a little pass; but that’s personal taste. It doesn’t detract from the meal itself. Overall, very pleased and will come back again when work brings me here next.
This is the only place to eat to Dubuque …friendly wait staff and great food. Never had bad dinner. Great desserts. The most knowledgeable staff on wines and biggest cocktails in town. The bar staff knows how to make any drink ….which is hard to find in dbq !!! Awesome! The Management and Chef come out and make sure you loved your dinner {which is a nice special touch} You can go wrong with any of the seafood here… the BEST hands down just like back east!!
