Cant beat these lunch specials!!. Ordered on a whim for a co worker and myself cause we wanted some chinese take out on a cold day. we ordered the sesame shrimp and general tsaos chicken lunch specials for delivery. each one was only 4.95, plus tax of course. they also accommodated our special requests for both dishes to be extra spicy. a really nice delivery guy showed up with our food in under 15 minutes. crazy fast! they came with a large portion of the entrees and rice with 2 crab meat rangoons. the rangoons were small but some of the better tasting rangoons I’ve ever had. the entrees themselves were some of the best take out Chinese (hence the name) I’ve had in the Iowa city area.very pleasantly surprised on the quality of the food and service. i would definitely recommend it for lunch or dinner. 🙂
Inexpensive take out (or dine in) food that is better than others in its class.. Had my first lunch there today, Szechuan Beef. Came with 2 rangoons and a can of pop, for $5.40 with tax. Very nice size portion for a typical guy-type appetite for lunch. And I would call it the ‘best fast-food chinese’ in town for this dish at least. Rangoons were fresh, veggies and beef were good, the sauce definitely better than another place in town… which shall stay nameless. I’ll try a few more dishes in the next weeks and only update this if there is a problem.
Palatable-At-Best China. I went to this restaurant while visiting Iowa City after noting it had the highest percentage of restaurants near me and had several great reviews, then I realized that the reviews must have all been written by family members. Coming from a family with struggling restaurants in a small desert town, I was quite disappointed in the quality. The styrofoam plates had almost as much flavor as the entrees themselves, and the meager serving of rice was hardly enough to support the chicken curry (which was very difficult to eat and serve with plastic-ware). We ordered at a counter and other than the occasional plastic cup of water delivered to us, there was no service whatsoever. The highlight of the night was when we received a free can of soda because we spent more than $20!!! Yes, that means there where no fountain drinks. A very poor attempt at restaurant in my opinion.
Best China.. It really is the best Chinese food in town. They may not serve gourmet food, the food they sell is more delicious and a much better deal than any other Chinese store in town.
Great Chinese Take Out!!. We tried this place for the first time and it was amazing! They are quick at making the food for take out, it was hot and they give you large portions. We ordered way too much food. It was all delicious and at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend this place for anyone who wants take out or dine in Chinese.
Food is always good. Lunch specials are extremely affordable. Our favorite Chinese place in Iowa City by far.
