Ordered a birthday cake with a special theme and it had no theme at all, just Happy Birthday. My question about the requested theme was ignored. Won’ use them again for next year.

Deluxe (had) Croissants. Evidently, one must arrive in the dark on Saturday mornings to get one of the 6 croissants produced there weekly; they are truly fantastic and I get the demand–I just don’t get the supply. This place often seems oblivious to traditional business stimuli.Nonetheless, we love the place!

Adorable little place. Stopped in with my husband and two kids to get a little sweet treat. Used to live in the neighborhood and stumbled upon this place while reminiscing. They must be popular as they were out of many things, but it was the middle of the afternoon, so that is fairly standard for a bakery. We ordered 4 different kinds of petit fours for us, and got 6 for a friend for a gift. All were devoured and all were spectacular. Moist cake, not too much icing/frosting, interesting flavors. Our friend raved about hers as well. It is probably a good thing we don’t live close to this place.

Ugh. not good.. This place, which i wanted to love as it is a locally-owned business, has never been anything but mediocre on their best day. i have tried multiple times to find something that is better than just below average, and have failed. they even manage to ruin their coffee. the prices are WAY too high for their product–do not buy the hype! there are many excellent local restaurants in iowa city, but this is not one of them.

Best red velvet cake anywhere. Great coffee & muffins too…

Superb!. The individual pastries are terrific, but the cakes bring me back again and again: they’re top-notch. Beautiful, delicious, excellent texture. Nothing in the area beats Deluxe.

Absolutely Delightful!. Jamie was perfect for our wedding party. We went to Deluxe with a vague idea of what we wanted for our bash and sat down with Jamie to taste samples and get her opinion. We told her what we wanted to spend for 100 people and she delighted us with samples and suggestions. She is a gem! Eric and I are pretty damn picky, and we were not disappointed. The day of the party, her assistants brought the goodies to our home and even arranged a beautiful display. Unfortunately we underestimated the power of her desserts. The guests actually passed on seconds of the savory treats (catered by the Motley Cow and also outstanding!) and devoured every morsel of the dessert display. We could not have been happier with the outcome. I would recommend Deluxe to everyone.
