Decent Place. Food is typical bar food for an Irish pub. Servicable… I go there regularly… if you’re a food snob or looking for a light meal, might want to look elsewhere. Also, my son swears by the wings. plus they have Boddies….
Heavy. I’m sure that the bar aspect is fine, and the environment makes you feel like you are in an Irish pub. But the food is too heavy. There is nothing on the menu that I would just want to eat for lunch. On a snowy day when you are hungry, their Irish Stew is amazing. And they might have the best fish and chips in Iowa City. But I’m not sure that I would ever come here in the summer when I want something light and refreshing.
In a town with bars full of 17 year olds, this bar and restaurant is grown up. Comfortable, relaxed, with good bar food and good specials. Order the sweat potato fries and watch people from the front window. A great place to unwhined.
