I ordered a dirty martini. I drank a few sips and ate an olive. I noticed the olive tasted bad and examined the 3 that were left. They had mold on them! I quietly told the waitress that they were moldy to which she quickly removed my drink from the table. When I received the bill they only took off 50% for a $14 martini! No apologies, nothing! There are numerous restaurants in the area that take pride in their product and customer service but this is not one of them.

Went here because we were looking for good sushi and we found some!! I really like the atmosphere and staff was very friendly. Apparently on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s they do this 3,6,9 deal where selections from their menu are either 3,6,or 9 bucks not a bad price for a sushi dinner. We ordered a few different types of rolls and loved them all. I cannot wait to come here again.

Wannabe Asian?. Well the decor is nice, the location is great but then you get to the staff. Their main concern is if they are going to grace the cover of Vogue as opposed to assist you in your dinner selection. The bar staff can’t even help you with the alcohol because they aren’t 21 so they can’ drink! The food is good but I can get better at the Bread Market next door for far less money and attitude. Spend your sake money elsewhere. MANGIA!

Pleasant surprise!!!. My husband is a grad student in Iowa City and I live out of town and travel to Iowa City on weekends. We recently discovered Formosa. Glad we did! It was a gorgeous spring day and we opted to dine al fresco on the patio. Our server was great!!! I am not a huge sushi fan (unlike my husband) and expressed this to the server. He assured me that there was something on the menu for me. Upon asking me several questions he made some recommendations. He was spot on. I had the Bahama roll and the Tropical Rain Forest rolls. Simply amazing… the sauces garnishing my maki absolutely made them divine. I sampled a few of the martini’s on their menu and am now a die hard fan of the CC Kazi. Who knew a martini featuring tequila could be so good?!? My husband ordered the chef’s choice of sashimi and commented that for Iowa the fish was exceptionally fresh. I regretfully didn’t remember my server’s name, but the following weekend we went back and there he was. I pointed to him and told the hostess I preferred to be in his section. I’m now a regular and he is my regular. (His name is Jason… ask for him!)

Sushi in the Ped-Mall. Occasionally my friends and I will come here for sushi and drinks before we go out. It’s located in a great location, right in the ped-mall. The sushi isn’t bad, my favorite is the Las Vegas roll. The entres are okay but nothing special. Drinks are good, prices aren’t too bad and the location is convenient.

Good Sushi, Horrible Service. My husband and I ate at Formosa for our anniversary. I really liked the ambiance and thought the food and drinks were great but I didn’t care for the service. We had to wait for everything, it seemed really disorganized. However, I would recommend their signature rolls, our favorites were the Plaza Tower roll, the Las Vegas roll and the Tuna Tataki roll.

Good experience.. Good fish. Good service. Excitable staff. Sashimi and rolls are served in slightly over sized bites but quite good.Great experience. I just needed a sharper knife to cut the rolls / Sashimi. This like Wok and Taki in DM is not a meal I could prepare at home. Thumbs up.
