Solid lunch buffet. I went here for the lunch buffet on a Friday. I’m an Iowa City native, and I’ve eaten plenty of Indian food here and abroad, but somehow I’ve never made it to India Cafe. The exterior (and interior, for that matter) certainly doesn’t look like much, but that had no bearing on the food. India Cafe, unlike another Indian restaurant nearby, serves meat dishes. Their buffet had a good array of dishes to choose from, and all were fresh. Sauces were complex and delicious, but seemed to be heavy on the butter/cream; they were richer than I expected. Service was good. I walked in at 11:30, and the place was half-full. It picked up after 12:00, but you can still expect to be seated immediately. Good food and great selection for $8.
Not real indian foods. I like indian foods very much also i know indian dishes like chicken tikka masala, chicken makani, chicken cury etc. because i was in india for year. india cafe food is not a real indian food. also seen to me they use too much food color, services is slow. james iowa city08 Apr, 2011How heck foods is?. I eat india cafe since 2001. recently i had dinner with my friends. I can’t believe how run this place. Food quality wasn’t good and service was worse. we asked the guy red wine three times, every time we asked he said ok.then i realized he didn’t under english. I think we need another indian restaurant in iowa city. john
Awesome Lunch Buffet. Definitely one of the better Indian restaurants in the Iowa City area. I love to go during lunch for their buffet. Everything is delicious and it always hits the spot.
Great Lunch Spot. This is a great spot for lunch and I love coming here. The service is always friendly and the food is yummy. They only offer a buffet which is great because you get to try a little bit of everything. The only complaint I have is that I wish they would offer more meat dishes.
Everything Tastes Great. They offer an en excellent lunch buffet. You get to try a little bit of everything and go back as many times as you like. Everything tastes great, you won’t be disappointed.
