Good for breakfast lunch or dinner. We went there for brunch had mimosas and Irish eggs Benedict instead of Canadian bacon, corned beef. It is excellent! Their bagel sandwich which is offered all day is great! Just if you can’t handle too much spice as for the pepper cream cheese on the side. They also make wonderful Moscow Mules.
Re-opened under new ownership August 2012. IOWA CITYMickys Irish Pub & Grill in downtown Iowa City recently received a makeover.Located at 11 S. Dubuque St., Mickys has been closed for improvements for the past three months. The previous owners decided they werent interested in owning it, so Jim Mondanaro bought back the business. Mr. Mondanaro started Mickys on Aug. 28, 1980 and had owned it until 2010.After about two months of renovation work, Mickys reopened last week, said David Stein, who has been employed at several of Mr. Mondanaros businesses and has helped oversee the Mickys renovations. Its fitting, Mr. Stein said, that the business reopened under Mr. Mondanaros ownership 32 years from the day he opened it in 1980. The grand opening is Aug. 28.From http://www.corridorbusiness.com/news/mickys-reopened-under-new-ownership/
Iowa City Institution. I’ve been a fan of Micky’s since it first opened ~30 years ago. Good comfortable place for lunch. Good service.
The Fettucine Is Where It’s At. I’ve eaten here quite a few times and I always get the exact same thing. They have the best Fettucine Alfredo ever. I’ve tried the Mexicali Alley and a couple different sandwiches but nothing compares to their Fettucine Alfredo so I just stick to ordering that now. The first time I tried it I was surprised because the pasta that is served at most bars isn’t very good. I would highly recommend trying it, otherwise you’re missing out.
An unknown treasure is the Sat and Sun am breakfast. The omelets are great and filling.
GREAT grilled cheese and fries!
