Everything is so cute and little.. Let me get this out of the way immediately. When i first entered the Motley Cow Cafe I was expecting a tribute restaurant to the hair band Motley Crue. My first instincts were however way off and it turned out to be a very lovely place that you would feel proud to take your date for a quiet night out. The Motley Cow has many unique features from the sunflower husk to the bar made out of old Chinese prison. Everywhere you look it seems they have taken something old and reused it somewhere in the restaurant. They also use a number of different local foods in there menu but don’t slap you in the face about any of it by trying to seem hip or trendy. The meal prices were right in line with both the proportions of food and the quality of each meal that was ordered. The special for the night was a large leg of lamb served over some fresh greens and sauteed mushrooms. The lamb leg was prepared to perfection and you jut wanted to pick it up and rip into it like a starving caveman tearing apart a fresh kill. The meals were served together and right on time with everyone getting their order within a few minutes of each other. Be sure to check out both the appetizers and the desserts. Everyone of us gave The Motley Cow Cafe an above average rating with the lower score being a 3 and the highest score being a 4. The total came to 3.75/5 spoons for an above average rating. Some areas that stood out were the decor of the building with its large windows along the front of the building to the ability to see the fire blasted oven roaring behind the counter. The wait staff was excellent and not only knowledgeable about he menu but the entire operation of the restaurant was built upon. There appears to be ample seating but if you were planning on eating here on a Friday or Saturday night I would defiantly call ahead for reservations.

Gave it another shot. Well as promised, I did give this place another shot and I was pleased. The service was outstanding, the polenta was tasty and the soup was delish. I gather the evening service tops the lunch service hands down. Last time I came in for lunch and wasn’t as impressed. BTW try their Pimm’s Strawberry if it is still on the menu, what a delightful twist on a true British classic. MANGIA!25 May, 2011Decent but loud. Had lunch here. Gruyere sandwich was yummy but the asparagus soup was not. Too thin and watery plus not flavorful. Nice vinho verde by the glass too. The acoustics make the place a little annoying but it does have a nice setting. Would probably try it again. MANGIA

Another Chance. My husband and I have only eaten here once but weren’t completely satisfied with our experience. The food is organic and local farmer produced but only okay. The portions are small so you do not leave feeling satisfied. Our server however, was very nice and knowledgeable about the food. I think we would go back and give this place another chance.

Mixed feelings. Sometimes this place is good and sometimes it’s down right bad. I’ve been eating here since it was in it’s old location, which I preferred even if it did take hours to complete the meal. For the most part I only go here now when I’m with someone who’s never been and I do that because I like to gauge what the other person thinks. It’s kind of sad really that this place has seemed to slowly decline over the years. Overall it feels like some of the passion that you could taste has faded away. On another note there bartender makes some of the weakest drinks in town for a place in this price range.
