This place is one of my faves for lunch. Salads, soups, sandwiches, fresh brewed tea or wine…..all fabulous. Love the location too. Hugs 126
Accommodation made the difference. Due to a botched reservation at another restaurant, my parents and I decided to try One Twenty Six. Although we didn’t have a reservation, they worked diligently to figure out where to seat up. We ended sitting upstairs in Moonrakers, which coincidentally, was quieter than One Twenty Six downstairs. Our waiter was the bartender, and as the bar was fairly empty, we got phenomenal service, and his knowledge was impeccable. The food was excellent, though my father wasn’t asked how he wanted his steak cooked and it came to him a little overdone for his taste. But that was easily passed over when we got to the dessert menu – which was diverse and had not one bad item on it. I would recommend this restaurant again, and if it’s before 7pm, I would inquire about sitting upstairs!
My husband and I as well as our entire family LOVES this restaurant. Every time our family visits us from across this country they only want to eat at this restaurant! Excellent food and wine list with descent service.
Always Delicious. I really enjoy eating here. It’s located right in downtown Iowa City on the corner of Washington and Dubuque. The food is always delicious. If I eat here for lunch I almost always order the Shrimp Po’ Boy sandwich and if I eat here for dinner I normally order the Shrimp Etouffe with Sausage and Chicken.
Worst business ever! The owner also owns the restaurant Hearth, above 126. They use a wine menu for Hearth at 126 that misrepresents the prices. The owner also refused to accept a coupon for Hearth(received for poor service) at 126 even though Hearth is now closed on the day the coupon specified. Food is fine but business model and customer service could use a huge upgrade.
Great Food, Great Atmosphere. My husband and I really enjoy coming here for dates. I love the atmosphere here and if it’s nice out, we love to sit on the patio. The food is always great and there is a nice selection to choose from. They have a great wine list and you won’t ever leave unsatisfied.
One Twenty Six. I’ve only been here twice since my son started going to the University of Iowa, however, I enjoy eating here when I come to Iowa City. Not only do they have delicious food and a great wine list but the staff is friendly and the restaurant has a great atmosphere.
