The Friendship Roll was excellent. The beef bento box not so much. The beef was very tough despite being cooked medium rare.

Favorite sushi!. I’ve been to hawaii and have had super fresh delicious sushi and oyama is as close to that as you can get. Always good food. Iowa city roll and perfect roll are my favorites. The service can be less than friendly, but I wouldn’t say any of the wait staff have been out right rude. Also it’s very clean. Which is important when raw fish is on the menu.

Love it here. I love their rolls and the staff is nice enough to suggest something new each time i go. I’m am never disappointed. Highly recommend iowa city roll or the perfect roll. Yumm

The Best Sushi in Iowa city!!. Despite changing of the staffs/owners. Oyama still produced some of the best sushi around. My favorites would be the Iowa city and Spider roll, Toasted Salmon Skin Salad and Kaki fried (battered fried oysters) to name a few. Service is great if you arrive before the crowds. Having been to both locations Iowa City&Cedar Rapid, Iowa city is hands down the best. My only complaint is the dirty restroom but that’s typical of an asian restaurants, otherwise the food is great!!!

Best Sushi in Iowa City!. In my opinion it is the best sushi restaurant in Iowa City. It is important that a distinction is made. Oyama in Iowa City is not owned or operated by the same people as the Cedar Rapids Oyama. The menu stayed relatively the same after the change of ownership. I have eaten at both locations and the service, food, and atmosphere are far superior to the stuffy, high priced sushi restaurants downtown. It’s definitely worth the trip to the east side of Iowa City. Plus the theater is right across the parking lot. Great for dinner and a show!!!

Authentic feel with great dishes. Recommend the spicy tuna and fiesta rolls!

Best Sushi anywhere!. Oyama Sushi is the best place to eat in CR, not to mention the best sushi I’ve ever had! I am a huge sushi fan and love everything, even just plain raw fish. Their food is impeccably fresh, tasty, and well-prepared. The sushi chefs really are artists, and genuinely care about what’s going on your plate. If you’re going on the weekend, call ahead and make a reservation, they can get busy! The staff is great, the cocktails are great – this restaurant is the only one I’ve ever been to where my drink gets refilled more than once during my meal!
