Decent selection of craft beer on tap and staff was very friendly. Had a Sanctuary pizza and nachos. Pizza crust seemed like it was from a Chef Boyard…

I’ve fallen and I can’t get up. I love the place, but the food, always stuck in a previous era, has slipped into a new level of ridiculousness. The sliders are tasty though, and nice with the great tap selections, but the rest of the menu is avoidable gutwad that isn’t even aware there’s a mark to hit–much less that it’s completely missing it. This place has everything but a killer kitchen.
Nothing Gourmet Here!. Ego tripping children staff behind bar & kitchen staff no clue – Pass the pepper please – They were insulted when I said an idiot can cook & have food turn out tastling like pepper, just keep grinding it in. Profits from switching to tap beer going into dead end couisine I won’t attempt again.
The place was awful. 5 minutes to be noticed by the staff, 30+ minutes to get our food. Others were actively screaming and shouting, making for a completely miserable experience. We ended up getting our food to go. Tea was strong and bitter, waitress seemed bothered by our presence and even asked if we were going to order any drinks or just have water.
Best beer selection in Iowa City. Reds Ale House is a close second, and both are great establishments. Sanctuary has just a few more taps, and appears to be more willing to push the flavor profile with their tap menu. Food is excellent. They even stock Laphroaig, Talisker, and a few other good single malt whiskys. A stand out facility in a great part of town, be sure to head over.
Great Beer Selection. As stated in the title, Sanctuary has a high quality beer selection. During the week, they’ve got nightly specials like $3 Anchor Steam or Fat Tire (sometimes any draft $3). Pizza and sandwichs are pretty solid as well. My favorite part of Sanctuary might be the atmosphere though. It has a terrific pub-feel with lower lighting and a lot of wood to make this a great place to go when you actually want to have a conversation with a date or some friends over some great beer.
Outstanding selection of beer, both on tap and bottled. Great venue with good ambiance and friendly service. Very decent food.
Soul Sanctuary. Sanctuary is the kind of place that you hear a lot about, but untill you go you wonder what the big deal is. It is definitely a pub atmosphere with a great beer selection. However, it also has great food and with the fireplace going, it is very comfortable. Some really good entertainment too.
