  Great restaurant. We had a wonderful lunch at Short’s Burgers Eastside while visiting Iowa City. It’s been a favorite of our son’s family and now I see why. The atmosphere is comfortable and relaxing. The staff is helpful and friendly. The food is amazing. The hard cider is excellent. All in all, a fantastic experience that I recommend to all.

  The burgers are unique one of a kind that are literally finger licking good. Its a waste of a napkin when you can use your own mouth to clean your fingers.

  I would like to see you try. Do you really have the nerve to say that about the cooking staff. They had just worked a long day and want to go home to their families. But Noooooo they are cooking for you at 9 pm. You think they are unprofessional they are not it is you. i would love to see you try to do that but I know you cant. so just STEP OFF27 Feb, 2013Great food. Worlds best wings and chicken strips

  Unprofessional Kitchen Staff. My family and I stopped in Short’s Burgers Eastside last night (5/4/13) for a late meal (9pm) and a few beers. We had spent the day moving my daughter Into her new home so we were getting a late start for dinner and I was concerned ahead of time about walking in just before closing. When we arrived we were kindly greeted by the wait staff and pointed towards our table. Still concerned about the time I asked if the kitchen was open and the host confirmed that it was until 10pm. Once seated, the waiter/host immediatley went to the kitchen window to inform the kitchen staff that they will have an order coming in. I sat observing the exchange between the waiter and kitchen staff and it was obvious that the kitchen staff was not happy about us being there! As we looked over the menu the kitchen staff shared glares out of the kitchen window showing their displeasure. Concerned about having an unhappy cook prepare my meal, I again asked the waitress takiing our order about the time and she assured me that we were not a problem and that they didn’t close until 10pm. However, the obvious disgust that the kitchen staff displayed was enough to ruin an opportunity for a nice meal. It was very obvious that we were interfering with their plans of shutting down early and at this point I wasn’t comfortable with them preparing our food. In the end we kindly declined to order and explained that we’d go somewhere else. SHORT’S BURGERS EASTSIDE WAS NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE for me or my family due to an unprofessional kitchen staff. When ordering a meal you want to have the confidence that kitchen staff will present the best possible food and it was obvious to me that we would not get that on this night. I WILL NOT RETURN to Short’s Burgers Eastside again, and on this occasion the kitchen staff cost this establishment $70 in sales and cost the wait staff $20 in tips for the night.
