I appreciate that this is a local treasure, but the food is just okay. Also, it’s filthy and there’s a restroom cleaner smell depending on where you sit. Go here if you want a pie shake (get the chocolate bourbon pecan); otherwise, there are a dozen better places to eat downtown.

Used to frequent this place when I was a graduate student at the University of Iowa. The omelettes were absolutely heavenly… totally different from the ones we get here in India. The eggs were perfectly made, and the veggie stuffing was just too good. I used to go there regularly during my 7 years at Iowa, and wasn’t disappointed even once. I also love their simple decor. Great place, awesome memories!
Great meal! Even better service! Worth the long wait! Yummy sweet potato pancakes and crunchy hash browns. Be ready to wait for a table but not long for your meal. We will be back to try lunch!

Love it. I love the hamburg in the food is amazing (especially the pancakes and fries) and the prices aren’t too unreasonable.
