Come early for the sunday buffet.. Small cafe, don’t expect anything fancy, it’s a bit of a dive, but with good food. Very limited seating makes Sunday buffet a game of timing to get there before Mount Zion Baptist dismisses at about 12:30. Their signature burger is sinfully good, with bacon, sausage, and cheese. Sunday buffet was fried chicken and a large number of sides (black eyed peas, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn bread, to name a few.) Deserts included soul food staples of peach cobbler, sweet potato pie, as well as a couple different cakes. Will visit again.
Good soul food. I think I’ve had all the main dishes & sides, and it’s all been good. Traditional soul food fare–fried chicken, catfish, pork chops, etc., plus a really tasty burger. If you’re not used to soul food, try the Sunday buffet, and sample all the sides. Sometimes the flavors are a bit tame–they may be toning down some things to cater to local tastes. But there’s always hot sauce on the table.
