The interior was nice, good atmosphere but there must be a shortage of paneer because the 2 dishes I ordered barely had any of it. Mostly curry sauce. The curry was average to below average. The paratha was definitely below average and so was the pakora. Probably the worst pakora Ive ever had and I travel for work and have eaten at dozens of Indian restaurants. I guess when you are the only game in town you dont have to be great to impress.
Decent Indian food. Actually only Indian food you can get in town. Prices are a little steep for dinner I would say and the portions are a bit small but ok. Staff is super nice though. I just wish the dishes were a bit bigger
Tandor Terrific. The proof for me is in the Mulligatawny and these folks do it right. Starting near the top of the menu the Mulligatawny soup is bang-on.Everything we have tried at the Shahi Palace has exceeded expectations. They hit the ground running in Sioux City and did not have to wait to hit their stride. They have that Tandor oven tuned perfectly and the family of successful recipes is world class. I’m not mentioning and specific menu items, other than the soup, because it’s all very good just take your pick and the professional staff will help you decide if you have questions. Bonus, you get to watch Cricket matches while you dine. Plan to put the Shahi Palace on your top 10 favorites list.
Enjoyed it. I had the chicken curry for lunch and enjoyed it; very tasty. Attentive, professional service too. Everything is geared toward encouraging you to sit and savor your food, not just shovel it in and get out. The lunch prices are very reasonable too.
What a great addition to Sioux City!! Nicely appointed restaurant good for work lunch or even a date night. Bollywood on TV even! I spent some years in the UK and grew to love Indian. Shahi Palace is as close as you will ever get in SUX. Full range of expected…tikka masala, saag, vindaloo, naans, etc. I had the tikka masala and a garlic Naan. Both excellent. Great attentive service as well. Highly recommend. For those familiar I put close to mother India or Flavors in Omaha.
