Terrible service. Brought Cevapi there one time and then the next time I showed up in person to order the guy said they will not be selling it for months. Never again will they get another dime.
Horrible service. I went to the bakery on Saturday and the small store was completely empty. The man at the counter did not say hello or ask us if we needed anything. Another gentleman entered (who was of the same ethnicity) and received a friendly gesture in a foreign language. I appreciate and respect all cultures but felt that because I was American I did not receive good service. Will not go there again.
Yum!. I love this place! It’s worth the drive from Iowa City, especially if you like Bosnian food. If you’ve never had Bosnian food, give this place a try! It’s one of the most American-friendly Bosnian establishments you can find. There are English-language labels on the items in the pastry case and clearly posted prices, and the people who work at the counter are very helpful. The cheese burek makes a great quick lunch–it’s flaky pastry sheets wrapped around salty cheese, served warm. They also make burek with meat and other fillings, but I’ve only tried the cheese. My favorite desserts are the tulumbas (fried pieces of pate choux dough soaked in syrup), the hurmasice (soft cookies with raisins soaked in syrup), the sampita (tall, pillowy meringue atop a thin layer of dense cake), and wafer rolls (cake crumbs mixed with dried fruits and nuts, including papaya and macadamias). I’ve never tried the European-style tortes because I know from experience that European buttercream isn’t sweet enough for my taste. But the tortes they sell certainly look pretty! They also sell fresh-baked breads and a decent selection of imported groceries. I highly reccommend this establishment!
This is a nice little bakery. I’ve never been disappointed with anything here, but I have had several things that were not great.
