I grew up here, go back when I can.. I was a local as a kid and we ate a lot of barbecue. It is Kansas City after all. We tried a lot them all but this place got our business nine times out of ten. The owners are a couple that live in the community and they do all the work. You food will be cooked by one and served by the other. The meat is good, especially the beef brisket. The owners are from Croatia and the polish sausage is unusual for a barbecue place (though if you know much about the history of barbecue you know that unusual is more traditional than what you get in a lot of chain joints). The ribs are also quite tasty and their homemade sauce is the sauce I compare all sauces to. I typically order a beef and ham jayhawker sandwich with fries. Beans are a great addition as well. I don’t care for the cole slaw myself but it a traditional vinegar based recipe and my friends who are fans of that type of slaw consider it exceptional. Use LOTS of SAUCE.
