As I walked into the restaurant, I instantly noticed the small yet upper class feel that 715 on Mass Street gave off. The bar was a light paneled wood with similar color bar stools. Behind the bar was a plethora of options for wine and other alcoholic beverages. There were long-hanging light bulbs over the bar that seemed to be the only light in the place other than the natural light coming in from the door and windows. The tables were set nicely with white cloth napkins and the glasses for water already out. It reminded me of an upscale caf. We decided to eat here on a Friday for lunch and it was busy but not overwhelming. We were seated in a table and instantly our waiter approached us. He asked us what we would like to drink as he poured us glasses of water. One thing that I noticed specifically as he did this was that he reached across the table, almost knocking over the glasses that he had just poured. I was sort of taken back by this, however quickly got over it as I told him that I was fine with just water for my drink. The others ordered pop and iced tea and with that he came back with our drinks in a timely manner. As I looked over the menu, I started getting a feeling that this was an Italian restaurant. The menu consisted of pasta and pizza, however it also carried sandwiches and a few other main entres. I decided to go with the classic spaghetti and meatballs and a side salad. The salad arrived first like with most restaurants. It was a mixture of spinach and weeds that didnt hold much flavor. The dressing that they used tasted like a vinaigrette but it was rather tart and didnt cover much of the salad. I picked around and ate little of the leafy and weed filled salad and by the end I was ready for the main dish to arrive. Although it is the classic pasta dish for any restaurant, some restaurants can really mess it up. However, 715 certainly did not. The pasta was thicker noodles that definitely were filling. The spaghetti sauce filled the bowl but not in an overwhelming way. It didnt leave the noodles soggy and drenched in sauce, but rather it gave them a good flavor. There were two meatballs that were also covered in sauce and coated in some sort of cheese. I am not a huge fan of cheese and the menu did not state that it would be covered in it, but I picked it off and left some on. Even though I do not like cheese, whatever was on the meatballs was hardly tasted due to the richness of them. The $7.99 spaghetti and meatballs was tasty and well worth the dissatisfaction with the weed salad. One of the people that I went with ordered a grilled cheese sandwich, another ordered the rainbow trout, and the other ordered soup and salad. The grilled cheese sandwich was very disappointing. I took a bite and it seemed like way too much cheese with a little bit of under-toasted bread. Because the bread was so soft, the cheese instantly made it soggy and unappetizing. I would have rather cooked up my own grilled cheese sandwich at home than to have spent the $8.99 on too much cheese and soggy bread. When our food arrived, my mother had asked the waiter for a side of fries, which we didnt get until we were all done eating. It seemed as if it took longer for them to get those out of the kitchen than it did for any of the other meals which is strange considering theyre a popular side item. The looks of the fries were definitely better than the taste. They were not very crispy, and actually seemed soggy. They were under-seasoned and was hard to eat. Even though they looked tasty, they were far from it. Usually fries straight out of the kitchen are really warm and have a sort of crisp to them, but these flopped when you picked them up and were more room temperature. It wouldve been nice to have some water to wash them down, however the waiter hadnt brought any more water since we originally sat down, therefore we were out. We finished up our meals and asked for the check before leaving.Other than the weed filled salad, soggy grilled cheese, limp fries, and lack of water, our experience went fairly well. The feel of the atmosphere is comforting and relaxing. The spaghetti and meatballs were definitely the best part of the experience for myself, which is good because that was the main entre. Everyone that I was with seemed please for the most part and the environment was gratifying. Next time I come back Im going to try the burger because it looked delicious.

Drop the cash it’s completely worth it. Romantic atmosphere, open kitchen, and craft cocktails. They are the restaurant to go to when you want a moment to be more memorable. Well done, 715 chefs and staff… well done indeed.

Fantastic as always. You cannot go wrong at this place. From the atmosphere to the amazing food, I can’t say enough good things. Everything on the menu tastes wonderful. Try the smoked trout and meatballs as appetizers.

Excellent food. Pizzas are always very good. Can’t go wrong with any pork or lamb dish. Excellent mixed drinks. Nice upbeat atmosphere.

Wow. Where did these negative reviewers eat? Clearly not at the 715 Restaurant I’ve been patronizing for the past few years. Admittedly, their prices make it a ‘special occasion’ locale for myself and my sweetie, but every. Single. Experience. Has been top notch. The pasta (in my humble opinion) is on par with the dishes I ate while living in Firenze. The pork is outstanding, always and every dish. My partner is always a strong skeptic for new places, so we visited first about 2.5 years ago, to celebrate my birthday. My mother’s rabbit ravioli was excellent. My sister’s shrimp were on point. My love and I split the 2# steak that a waiter (not ours, but a kind soul who overheard his hesitation on ordering, and recommended it). We can now eat local food in ‘peace’ (no more longhorn steakhouse) because we found 715. I organized a dinner party there last fall for my birthday. All 10 guests were happy and satisfied (including our friend who teaches at a culinary center in KC), and so yes, I am biased. But I’m not wrong. and the service? Pu-lease! So kind, so genuine and knowledgeable. We last went for lunch on Valentine’s Day, and of course they were busy. Our waitress was prompt and kind, and we ordered the six pack of beer for the kitchen staff (great idea!). She came back out an extra time to out table, to say thanks especially from the kitchen staff, on such a busy day.we plan to eat there this weekend for my sweetie’s birthday, and if its not awesome, I will let you know. But don’t hold your breath; get your self down their asap and appreciate local food prepared by local craftsmen doing a fantastic job.

Tries too hard to be hip. Housemade and local ingredients do not make a place special or worth the inflated prices if the overall plate is so-so. To pay $2 for a little bread to go with the entree is hard to believe here in the Midwest. It is trying to be a hip place one would find in a major city. It would do better by just trying to get the details right.

A friend who likes to go to 715 came to town today from Oklahoma City. She wanted to order quiche but the oven was broken. She ordered the chicken fried steak and it was very greasy. She sent it back and ordered a plain pizza. Our waitress disappeared many times, and we had to ask someone else for coffee – and instead of getting coffee they went in search of our waitress. It was a disappointing meal for my friend and for me. Usually, when my friend visits with her family a large group of us will go to 715. I am not so sure now.
