Best Mexican in Lawrence. Chips, salsa and chimichangas: muy bueno.Service can be a little inconsistent, depends on which waiter you get. Some are very good and some are not very attentive.
Awful. Lowest denominator of mexican food. I would rather eat Taco Bell and TB is garbage. I dont know how these keep opening. In my opinion, this place is making money some other way then selling food.
Decent Mexican. Nothing to rave about, but by far the best Mexican place in Lawrence.
Food is consistant good flavor and nice portions. Service is very good. Try the Guadaljara
OK for northern U.S.. The farther north you go, the more mundane barbecue and Mexican food become. Kansas still has good barbecue, but the Mexican and Tex-Mex leave a lot to be desired. While El Mezcal in Lawrence has many dishes you won’t find in fast food places, the taste misses much of the flavor found in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and even Oklahoma. The rice and refried beans are nothing more than Taco Bell offers. The taquitos and quesadillas are very dull. The Chile Colorado, however, is good. The meat could use a little more simmering, but the seasonings are correct. For Kansas, it’s not bad. I can’t say I like it or dislike it.
