Two words: lunch buffet!. I cannot even begin to convey to you how delicious the lunch buffet at india palace is. they always have a variety of fresh, delicious dishes (for example, chicken tikka masala, vegetable masala, etc.), excellent naan, and various chutneys. in addition to the main dishes, the buffet also includes sides such as samosas, soups, and salad & desserts such as rice pudding and (exceptionally savory) gulab jamun. also available is their indian style tea, which i find to be quite soothing and well-fitting for the dishes it accompanies.i have only been had dinner at india palace one time. i ordered the vegetarian dinner special (unfortunately, i cannot remember what all this included). while it did not blow me away, it was still tasty. however, i feel as though the cost of dinner is fairly overpriced.ultimately, if you haven’t yet been to india palace for its lunch buffet (11:30am-2:30pm), you are missing out on what i find to be some of the best food in lawrence.

Tried for the first time The other night for dinner. Coming from Denver where we ate some of the best indian/Nepalese/Sherpa food in the west – we have high standards. We had the dinner for two for $40. We have also been to Nepal so we know what this stuff is really supposed to taste like. We had a good sampling of everything and it was all fantastic. Very very good. The tikka masala was excellent. Rogan josh was also awesome. We are looking forward to trying their lunch buffet in the future. The only downside was that the service was slow. They got slammed after we sat down and didn’t have enough wait staff to keep up. I assume that it is a family run thing. They were very sweet – they just needed an extra waiter. We had our 2 and 1 yr old with us so we value prompt service right now! ;)With that said, we will go back because they were nice and the food is legit.

Great lunch buffet. I have eaten the lunch buffet many times and am never disappointed. Large variety and great Marsala tea to top off the meal. I recommend the lunch buffet over ordering an entree–where you spend almost twice as much and don’t get the great variety of options of the buffet. The entrees taste good, but the lunch buffet’s the way to go!

I really like this place!. This is the first Indian restaurant I tried and I really enjoyed it. I ordered chicken tandoori with rice. Yumm! The chicken and vegetables were so good. Next year while I’m at KU, I will be visiting this place often!

Bland bland bland. My wife and I visited Lawrence recently and had read that this was the best Indian restaurant in town. I hope that’s not true, because the lunch buffet was incredibly bland, with tikka masala that tasted like Chef Boyardee and tandoori chicken sitting out at room temperature.

Consistently good buffet. We have been here to this one many times and the one in Overland Park. Both are excellent and always consistently excellent. We have been for dinner meals but more times for the buffets. The samosas (meat, potato or vegetable little pies) are crunchy and good. All the entrees are excellent and have just the right of Indian spices. The waiters are very friendly and helpful to point out if you don’t know something or have a question. My wife loves the Lamb saag which is not often on the menu so check it out with the creamy spinach that integrates well with the lamb ( you can also get different variations the saag with chicken). (more on my blog).
