I love Chinese food and am not generally picky about it. I got beef and broccoli, lo mein and won ton soup and was extremely dissatisfied, the flavor was terrible and the wontons were so undercooked I couldn’t even scoop them up with a spoon. Overall just really bad.
It’s a all day buffet n we were there around 2 pm. Most food were dried out but whatever was fresh had good flavor. Hibachi grill is not visible so u put everything on a plate n give it to them n they cook it inside n bring it to u which is not appetizing.
The good thing abou tthis…. The good thing about this place is its extensive buffet. The bad thing is almost all the dishes lack spunk. For example, black pepper chicken is quite tasty properly made, but when the featured spice is only lightly sprinkled on, it’s dull, as here. The same is true for the so-called spicy chicken. General Tso’s chicken is sweet but missing other Chinese complementary flavors. The egg rolls and spring rolls lack substance. The Japanese style teriyaki salmon is good. The sushi is limited and quite poor.
Love this buffet for sushi, asian entrees and more. Current our favorite buffet that we come to often. It’s got everything (and more on Sunday too). This place is consistently excellent. It has a variety of different unusual entrees not usually seen on your ordinary Asian/ Chinese restaurants (including salmon, 2 types of crab, frog legs and more). All the Chinese entrees are have a little extra zing to them and are perfectly cooked. But don’t forget all your can eat fine fresh sushi (watch they make it- I love the fried sushi). Their Wonton soup is excellent and the sweet sour soup has a nice spicy kick to it (nice little extra sourness). No Mongolian here . Everything is consistently good for all the times we have been here. I never tire or their food here. So when you get a chance, head east on the 23rd highway out of Lawrence and compare to this to other Chinese/ Asian food places. (I know it is away from campus, downtown and 23rd but if you don’t come here you are really missing a great meal)
