Great food, entertaining chefs, fun atmosphere. Been there twice in one week and I’ll be back again.
We went there for sushi a couple of itmes. Not bad at all, little bit different style from other sushi place,but pretty and tasty.
I went there last Saturday after ku game. Kobe’s Hibachi style food is my favorite. Chefs show and joke made the dinner so much fun. I will come back there with my friends soon. Soooooo excited
Don’t bother. My coworker recommended the Lawrence Kobe, it was a very disappointing experience. It may have been a sign that at 6:00 there was no one in the place except our table and eventually another couple. Maybe for the cooked food it is fine, but if you are getting sushi, go somewhere else. I guess it’s a bonus that it comes with salad, miso soup, and sherbert already into the cost of your meal. The portion of the seaweed salad for the price, and compared to other resaurants, was small. I ordered a spider roll, which is supposed to have fried soft shell crab…but had imitation crab. And not only did everything have imitation crab, but of very poor quality; it was chewy and salty. The fish roe that was atop one of the rolls was nearly flavorless, and the rice was not fresh, so it tasted stale. Overall, none of the food seemed fresh and the flavors were bland.The one saving grace was my mixed drink, and lets be real, unless I’m willing to spend more on my drinks than my food, it would not have saved this visit.
Disappointed. As a raving fan of many restaurants, I am sorry to say I do not have many nice things to say about Kobe in Lawrence, Kansas.I come in for the first time last week (9/1/10) for lunch. The experience bothered me so much, I still catch myself thinking about it, which is not typical.Let’s start on a positive note; the service was pretty good. Polite, attentive and quick.Now for the bad:I ordered three orders of sushi. I am accustom to great sushi from Yokohama’.s and Kokoro . This was like something you could have picked up at the local grocery store. The Tuna and squid were not very cold. When eating sushi, if the fish is raw, it should be cold to reduce the chances of bacteria. I also ordered from the Habachi grill. The chef had his pants pulled down in back so his butt was sticking out and the customers could tell the color of his underwear. OK, I can get past that. Here’s the problem, the food really wasn’t very good at all. very little flavor. Ever the fried rice was bland and very disappointing. The atmosphere was ok, a little dated but fairly clean.I wish I could say something redeeming about Kobe but I really cannot. I will stick with the other two Japanese restaurants in town. They are both very good and consistent. The owners and management of Kobe need to get their act together if they hope to stay in business.
Environment was great. Employees are awesome! They are very friendly and entertaining. The food is AMAZING! The sushi, for my first time, was delicious! Kobe is going to be a weekly thing for sure!
