Another gem from the Anderson Company. Great, simple steaks and sides. I recommend the ribeye or prime rib for steak, and salmon if you don’t do red meat. Try the carrot cake or creme brle for dessert. I love the steak soup, or the salads with four berry dressing. All the apps are delicious. Just remember if you go to a steakhouse that actually prepares their food from scratch, you aren’t going to get your food immediately.

Food was = to or less than an average sirloin stockaid very disappointing. Service was average at best. Prime rib and Kansas City strip were just mediocre and that’s being generous would not waist my time

Do not walk, RUN away!. I left a scathing review on open table which has since been removed, so I’m moving it here in hopes that I can save someone from a miserable experience, and fleeced of their hard earned money.I took my wife here in February of 2013 for our wedding anniversary. We had a reservation, but still ended up waiting several minutes before being seated. We were sat right next to a wait station, which was very loud. I should have taken that as a clue to bail out right away, but I didn’t since we were both very hungry. Our waiter was fair, though not very personable, and seemed somewhat annoyed when I asked for suggestions on a starter. We went with the Sea Hogs, which were just OK, and turned out to be the highlight of the evening. We both ordered a filet, medium and mid-rare, with asparagus, and a lobster tail. Service was very slow, and we waited what seemed at least 45 minutes after the appetizer for was an absolute abomination of a meal. The filets were way overcooked. Not a just little, but medium well done, and smashed! The asparagus was crunchy, and very greasy with butter, and the lobster tails were tiny, and completely overcooked to rubber. This was quickly becoming a cruel joke. I’m talking utterly laughable, and the check certainly added a nice insult when I saw the amount. After complaining to the establishment, we were offered a small discount with an apology. I still ended up dropping $150 on what is still, to this day, the worst dining experience I’ve ever had. So bad, in fact, we started a new anniversary tradition of cooking for each other at home, and enjoying a nice intimate evening together away from experiences like this.

A shadow of its former self….. Having lived in the Kansas City area all my life and having gone to Hereford House many times over the years, it’s truly sad to see how far this place has gone down hill. On my last visit, my KC Strip was so average in taste and tenderness that I wished I had stayed home and grilled my own steak (at one-fourth the cost). Our server pretty much confirmed my suspicion that corners were being cut here when he freely described how they had quit giving free deserts for birthdays and ceased serving good butter specifically to save the owners money! My fellow diners were similarly unimpressed with their meals, and we all wished we had spent our $50+ per meal somewhere else.

Downhill fast.. Not sure what has happened to the Leawood location but the service which used to be exceptional is now atrocious. Long wait to be greeted, longer wait to get cocktails. Very average food including tough, bland prime rib. Perhaps this place has simply been around too long? Lots of great places to dine here and this one used to be a staple when we had out of town guests but no more. Don’t bother trying to eat in the bar either. You will wait all night.

Good Tidings, etc.. We went here around Christmas this past year (2012) to have a nice dinner because our family has dwindled down to just the two of us to celebrate the Holidays. We were seated in the bar by the windows, which is where we usually like to sit. We ordered drinks and were looking over the menu when the manager came through and asked how we were. I told him it was a little chilly. He said he would take care of it. A few minutes later the bartender was screaming at the manager about being hot . They exchanged barbs back and forth and the bartender disappeared for a lengthy time. We were in awe of the rudeness that presented itself at that time. We did finally have our meal, but the bartender, who was also the waiter, was really out of sorts.
