Marvs Delicatessen is named after my dad, Marv Kerner, a true deli connoisseur who practically raised my sister and I in the Chicago North Shore deli scene. Most of my childhood food memories were seen though a huge corned beef sandwich or an early morning lox plate! Marv was a charismatic man who would meet with his group of friends every morning at the deli to schmooze and discuss the latest sporting events and to try to figure out how to hit the next four game parlay bet. I remember sitting and listening to him carry on with his childhood friends (what a bunch of characters) and, man, could they eat! The table was always full of food and they would say to me Go ahead, Stevie, eat! The great delicatessen food didnt end there. Our fridge at home always had a pound of corned beef, pastrami, chopped liver, a dozen bagels and a loaf of rye bread. So its no wonder that after spending my entire adult life as a chef and restaurateur I would eventually open a place paying homage to my dad and the great memories of food he passed on to me. I am so happy to now have a chance to bring that happiness to others! I hope our guests come to Marvs and unwind with family, schmooze with friends and enjoy the classic delicatessen fare I love so dearly! Steve Kerner, Proprietor/Owner
