Second time in a month being back for dinner, after trying Red Door twice a couple of years ago when it was new to the scene. New didn’t impress. But new is out, and newer is in, with stronger management. Servers aren’t teenage kids that live down the street, but very well trained and congenial staff that knows how to do it. Food items don’t just fill a category, but offer some unique twist or flavor. And prices are right. Tonight was chicken night, already the flakiest coating and the most tender chicken, but also with a jalapeno batter that is just the right spicy. Some of the sides aren’t anything special, but the appetizers and entrees we’ve tried among two big parties in two recent visits are great additions to the neighborhood.

This has got to be one of my favorite restaraunts. The atmosphere is great, the people are great, and perhaps most importantly the food is great. My Go-To place for an exciting dining experience.

I ordered the special which was surf and turf. The filet was rare to raw and not seasoned at all. The shrimp was cooked well but tasted only of smoke. I took the family and of the four dishes we ordered, only my daughters chicken tenders tastes OK. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

New Chef is terrific!. If you haven’t tried the Red Door lately you need to go back! New Chef, Bryce Noelle, is putting out some great food! Shrimp and grits, sea bass and awesome meatloaf! Burgers are tops! Still a great happy hour and patio. Live jazz on Saturday nights too! Check it out!

Changes… not for the better. I just now am getting around do doing a few reviews and this place is one that I need to do. The menu and service used to be great. Seems over the last few months things have changed, the menu has diversified, but become less interesting and old favorites have changed somehow. The service the last couple of times has been terrible, no refills, long wait for the check, unable to answer questions about the food. I guess things have changed since Debbie Gold’s departure, or since they strayed away from her menu. Sad to see, they used to be one of our favorites. And like another reviewer said, everything seems to be really salty.

Down hill, service and food!. So not long after opening we started coming here. we thought it was great, a new favorite place , and told all our friends to try it out, have taken a dozen groups there etc..sadly the last couple months that’s all changed. several times last couple months we’ve taken friends, plus a party of 7 . Each time service was worse than the last. We thought it was just bad service on the patio when we took our big party, but no…On that occasion we finally all moved ALL of our own dirty dishes to another table so we could converse over drinks, w/out being engulfed in every dish that had ever been brought to the table!,Even with a manager coming out and seeing this mess and clearing some of it himself, we didn’t apparently even rate a comment of courtesy such as , sorry about that! There seemed at first to be good wait staff. At this point it’s seeming like all super young gals, and one we’ve experienced several times now remains as if she were new! People seem less than knowlegable about food, and not as forthcoming about options as they had been. That said, we would deal with occasional lousy service, even more than occasional IF the food remained the quality it had been. It’s gone from really great, to mundane, to the last couple trips not good. The special flavors that made them special don’t seem to have remained. Sauces especially, The meatloaf has become nothing but an extremely salty bomb. The nice unigue sauce/gravy it used to have seems to have changed to something more like the beef au jus, with so much salt rediculous. Especially since the meat loaf itself was also pretty salty . Really bordered on inedible. The Beef in a beef sandwich also seriously salty, then the au jus super salty on top of that! No body needs anything to be this salty! If you do, you have a vitamin or mineral imbalance and/or you have as with many people who eat out a lot, tragically succombed to a sodium addiction. A good restaurant with a good chef does not need to use this much salt. Maybe I need to ask Again if they are using MSG as well , with what seem to be some changes for the worse. A comment.. Food tv is a great thing, however, I will say their constant judgements about not enough salt on their competition shows is doing no one any favors. Numerous chefs who are very clear to say they are ‘healthy’ cooks are berated for not using enough salt. Our society is so addicted to salt! I would take an extra blood pressure pill with me for desert at Red Door if you have bp issues!

Great Food!. We started going here because of the $5 happy hours but then started trying some of the other menu items. The Spicy Blue and Bacon Jam burger are family favorites. Nice to have a great local place like this.
