One of KC’s Best Hidden Gems for Authentic Mexican Food. I usually don’t share when it comes to my favorite ‘less public’ eateries, but not sharing this one would be a disservice.You walk in and the smells are memorable. Whether it is the sweet breads, pastries, cakes and cookies, or the slow roasted meat and authentic Latin cuisine. El Panzote is the definition of a hidden gem.For me personally, the tamales are the best I/we have ever had (local and abroad). I have tried several dishes from the menu and they have all been spectacular. Their service is great the owner and staff are extremely friendly. It has become a staple for our family. Each time we go we take a grab a few tamales and try something new from the menu. Cant go wrong with a piece of the tres leches cake too ;)A couple of things to note, there is limited seating, In the past we have taken ours on the go, but if there is room, we will stay to eat.Also, their food is authentic and depending on palate… might be considered a bit on the spicy (hot) side.
