Interesting experience. Food was good and normal of sushi. We walked in and the place was completely empty, so we were skeptical. However, the owner/bar tender seemed welcoming and explained that it was Halloween, so we decided to try it. We sat at the bar and asked for recommendations. The owner told us he wanted us to try things, and brought out items we never ordered for us to try. He then charged us. We were shocked and disappointed in this. These items were not ones we would have chosen to order so we thought that was rude and that we were taken advantage of….
Regulars. Best sushi restaurant I’ve been too. Me and my girlfriend always go here.
Dude, where’s my car. We ordered a variety of sushi rolls and all were good. The server, however, would have been better suited to a fast food chain and even that might be a stretch. In addition to his casual approach to serving he did not know about sake varieties nor was he knowledgeable about sushi preparation, etc., I hope they get the service together as this place could be a hit.
Bad experience with manager. After eating there last month, we planned to go there again last Friday. We showed up with our daughter and requested to be seated in the Bar area since we wanted to eat within the Happy Hour prices. The manager said no, we could not eat in the Bar because of our daughter. We were very surprised and said that we ate at the Bar the month before with our daughter. She said it was not allowed by the City… that kids under 13 could not be seated there. So we conceded to sit in the main area of the restaurant, and upon sitting down, I requested the Happy Hour menu since we could not sit in the Bar. The manager said no. So, we left and went to another sushi restaurant. Later, I looked this up about underage people in the Bars, and I found there there was no such rule in either Johnson County or in the City of Olathe!! Did the manager lie to us or she misunderstood City rules? I don’t know but it was certainly not a pleasant experience being treated this way by this manager. : (
Great Food-Awful Service. The food and atmosphere at this restaurant is out of this world. However, after eating there and bringing guests over 8 times now, each time the service has not gotten any better. It takes forever to get drinks, any type of service at all. The food was the only reason we kept going back. We have since decided to not recommend this place any longer, as the service ruins all else this restaurant has to offer.
Good food. horrible Horrible service…took forever for drinks and sushi.
Great Sushi in Olathe!. I had been looking thru the ratings of various restaurants here in the Olathe area, and had came across the unusually high rating for Olathe, of the Sake Lounge. It had been a while, since I had had good Sushi, well since the Wasabi Caf closed. Come to find out, Chef/ Owner, Shawn, also ran the Wasabi Caf. The Sushi, did not disappoint. I sat at the Sushi bar, sipping a very nice house Sake, and no not the usual Gekkekan. All I can say is, they have a very extensive Sake, and Plum wine selection. The Menu also has a very extensive Raw, and Cooked Sushi menu. Also with a Pan Asian flare including Tai Basil, and Generals Chicken, but who goes to a Sushi restaurant for Generals Chicken? Chef Shawn, was very helpful in telling me about the various Sushi Roll’s he had to offer. I went with a very popular Volcano Roll, as an appetizer, then moved on to the Maki B an an entre that included a Spicy Salmon Roll, a Spicy Tuna Roll, and a Spicy Crab Roll. It was all so good, As I ate my fine sushi, I was able to watch Chef Shawn prepare all his entrees with loving care. All his presentations were beautifully presented, and shows the skill of a great Sushi chef. If you truly like Sushi, you must check this restaurant out.
