The Rub BBQ. Not good. I order BBQ turkey, expecting something that would like look like shredded chicken, but I got was preprocessed turkey like the one you eat in a deli sandwich. In addition to that, the amount provided to me was very small. You also get on side disk. I order cold slaw, and I got about a cup of it and one white sandwich bread (square type). All of that for $8.99. Other members in my family order the brisket, but it had such much fat that it looks like bacon. Their order also came with one side dish. Turkey sandwich was dripping with fat gelatinous juice that was pretty nasty looking, the burnt ends were pretty good, but don’t compare to others I’ve had around town. Also had the beans, well, I thought I did, ended up with more onions than beans. Not good!!! The fries were the best thing we ate. Not what you want when eating K.C. BBQ. We will never eat here again and I now see why their Vegas location shut down long ago. I recommend you bypass this place and go eat at Salty Iguana next door. I hope you didn’t quit your day jobs!!!
Is it barbeque. Ran in for a quick sandwich(turkey). No smoke ring and there was nothing but turkey(fair serving) and a cold hamburger bun. No pickles. Sauce was OK.
The Rub Bar B Que Yuck. How can the meat be that dry when the bread is so soppy wet? And, seriously, did we see you use a microwave? This place won’t be here long, which is sad because I was looking forward to return visits…. until I ate the food.
OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!. Have always been a diehard Sneeds (Peculiar MO) and the late135th Street BBQ (Martin City MO) fan. I have never cared for Bryants fat ladened meats and gritty sauce and lousy location. Gates tastes too warmed over and dry. Fiorella’s and Rosedale do not even rate. OK Joes used to rate tips but The Rub is my family’s top choice. Sneeds is just too far out for us anymore.The Rub has excellent smoke penetration and very flavorful. Their signature dish called the Hillbilly Bowl was a unique experience that I have ordered numerous times and it’s always consistent. My meat of preference are the burnt ends. Just finished with the sausage and again, very high marks with a spicy bite. Their house sauce is custom made and is very much liked as it has a spicy kick. The mild sauce is just that, mild but is liked by my less spicy-liking family members. IF your a chicken fan, it is sometimes a bit dry but also has very good smoke flavor. If it’s turkey your after, like all the rest the turkey is not from the whole bird. Their pulled pork is another very much liked meat there by my family, but I’ll take the burn ends over pulled pork any day. Their cheesy corn beats the socks of Fiorella’s Jack Stack which is very runny.Their beans are cowboy style and are a huge hit….have not found a BBQ joint that serves them in this fashion.Sneeds and Keegans slaw could never be matched by any competitor in my opinion. The Rub is pretty good but if The Rub could match this, I’d never go back to Sneeds or OK Joes.The Rub is a no frills sitting environment and similar set up to a Chlpolte sevice line that’s fast and you can see the entire kitchen. The main difference is the servers do speak and understand English. They also have good TV’s and most often times great mature music. The owner, Dan is very proud of his product and is quick to remedy any complaints as it’s apparent he truely wants you to be a satisfied customer. If there’s a reasonable issue to resolve, Dan will resolve it. On one of our visits there was a short delay in providing our order (believe it was the onion straws had run out), Dan personally delivered a double order to our table and provided our family with a couple discount coupons for the trouble.If you appreciate true BBQ smoked meats you should not be disappointed with The Rub.
Everything about our meal was awesome. We ordered the ribs & a pulled pork sandwich. For sides we had fries, cheesy corn and cornbread. The ribs fell off the bone and they had a good fat/meat consistancy. The fries were also very good. We plan on eating here again!
The pulled pork was so-so. Everything was cold The ribs were tender and meaty. There was a vivid smoke ring, however they had ZERO flavor, which was very confusing.
