This is a great place to go if you are looking or craving a teriyaki bowl. Haven’t tried anything else, but the chicken and brown rice bowl is pretty good. The tea is the best part.13 Jan, 2015Terryaki Bowl
One of our FAVS!. We have been enjoying this restaurant for many years. The beef and chicken combo bowl is delicious…with very tender beef. You get great veggies cooked just right…never overcooked. The sauce is delicious and you can order it either spicy or milder…though both have a kick. We love the pineapple tea! Very healthy. Very fresh.
Healthy and Delicious. You won’t necessarily find authentic Hawaiian food here, but what you will find is a small assortment of healthy, delicious and inexpensive entrees. The veggies are perfectly al dente, which some may think is undercooked, but I find refreshing.I’ve had the chicken, steak and vegetable bowls and all were great. The only downside I’ve seen here is the tofu. It could be a little firmer in my opinion. Vegetarians: Unless you are a big fan, skip the tofu and just get a plain veggie bowl instead.
Great food. The food is delicious, healthy, and inexpensive. Love the teriyaki sauce and the pineapple ice tea. Highly recommended.
We went because the rating was so high. We were very surprised! Ummm the food was bland, the veggies weren’t cooked all the way, the sushi roll was probably from costco…. The tea is very good but the food sucked.
Nothing Hawaiian about this place except for Maui in the name. I’ve been to Maui Express twice and wasn’t impressed either time. The first time I went in I was hoping they served some of the foods I enjoyed in Hawaii. Unfortunately, there wasn’t anything Hawaiian about the place but the Maui in the name. They had no idea what I meant by manapua (steamed or baked buns filled typically with roast pork, sometimes other meat or veggies) when I asked if they planned on serving those. I didn’t even bother asking about loco moco . Anyway I got a teriyaki bowl and thought it blandThe second time I went in it was because I was longing for something new. It had been long enough that I thought I should give Maui Express another chance knowing not to expect Hawaiian food, but thinking maybe I was wrong before. Again, I just didn’t feel that there was anything especially good about it. The flavor just wasn’t there.
