Good food and sauce but a little expensive. Staple in Overland Park.

I gave it a shot…but blech!. It had been years since I went into Taco Via. I didn’t have much of an opinion until this last visit. the place was crowded which is usually a good sign; but the atmosphere seemed really murky and the people behind the counter had a bit of that dead to the world zombie look in there eyes. I knew where I was and didn’t expect a 4 star meal; but I could’ve done better going across the stree to Aldi to buy a cheap can of refried beans and discount chips. The tortillas I got at Taco via were stale and or soggy and the beans still resembled the shape of the can they must’ve come from. The rice was okay, but the burrito was caked in so much sauce and hard cheese that is was barely edible.

Haters can hate … but they miss the point. Is Taco Via good for you? No. Is Taco Via dirt cheap? No. Is Taco Via preparing food that would win on Iron Chef? No. Is Taco Via an Overland Park icon with thousands of loyal fans that crave their food on a weekly or even daily basis? Hell yes! It’s different. It’s a bit of a throw-back to cheap Tex-Mex from yester-year, and it makes no apologies for it. Nor does it have to. If you are over 25 years old and never eaten at Taco Via. Don’t go. Just slip over to Taco Bell and keep your ridiculous, self-important, overly-pretentious reviews to yourself. The rest of us will be lining up for our nachos, taco dogs, sanchos, burrito platters, etc. I’ve loved this place since I was kid and I’m going to keep on loving it … no matter how many bad reviews haters try to stuff in here. Check the overall approval rating and most importantly, check the line on a Thursday afternoon at lunch time. That’ll tell you everything you need to know. The new location is wonderful. It’s clean and well-kept. The food hasn’t changed one bit (and that’s a GOOD thing) … and the staff is just as down-to-earth and no-nonsense as they’ve ever been. For the nancies who hate on the Taco Via and/or its staff, do us all a favor … re-pop your collar, slip on your leather sandals, and walk on down to Taco Bell where you belong.

Average Overpriced Food & Bad Service. I used to eat at Taco Via years ago. I saw the new location on 95th Street in Overland Park and decided to check it out. Big mistake, the food was average and expensive. I’ve spent a few dollars more than I did at Taco Via at places like Jose Peppers and Margaritas. Also, the service was terrible. The old lady taking orders and running the cash register was rude. My asking one question about the menu appeared to annoy her. Also, rather than hand my debit card back to me she flipped it on the counter. Might seem trivial to some but that really bugged me. Needless to say, based on the overpriced but average food and crappy customer service I won’t be returning to ANY Taco Via restaurant.

White trash bad!. I stopped by there today because I didn’t see anything else around. Apparently they just moved to this new location so I’ll excuse the 30 minute wait and disorganization. But the food, that’s a different story! It is expensive, salty and tasteless! Taco Bell is just as good/bad. The people there were quite a sight to see…overweight, white trash kind with lots of little screaming kids.

This place has the best tasting taco sause. If they sold the sause in bottles, I would buy a lot of it.
