Was in town and had been to Joes before, but hadnt ever been to the original location so had to come and try again. Atmosphere is really neat, but get there early if you want to sit at a table because space is very limited. Food was fantastic. Made sure I went on a day when the burnt ends were available and they were melt in your mouth delicious. No sauce needed, but sauce is very good as well. Wife really liked the pulled pork. Again, no sauce needed, but does pair well. This place is a must try if youre in the area.
I’d heard a lot about this place before I even stepped into Kansas. And the lines sure do indicate this place is popular! It took us around 1 hour to reach the ordering counter.We ordered their Z-man sandwich & a half ribs. Both of them were excellent. The meat was so delicate & tasty that the burger almost falls apart when you pick it up. However my only qualm is whether it’s really worth the wait for this, given how Kansas city has so many great BBQ joints.Pro tip: Just call in, order & go for a pickup, The pickup queue is almost non existent & there were people who called in while waiting in the queue and yet got their orders well before the others waiting in the queue.
Amazingly quick service. The kids loved the ribs and onion rings. My dad raved about the z-man. I got the special (burnt end Rueben sandwich). It was the best sandwich I have ever had.
Best BBQ outside of Texas!!! Got there just after it opened and already a line outside and down the sidewalk. Was disappointed with The Z but their ribs and burnt ends more than made up for it. Burnt ends like candy!
Best barbecue I have ever had. The wait is a little long at times but that is to be expected.Will definitely eat here when I am back in KC again.
Best barbeque place. I purposefully stop here any time I’m in the area. I highly recommend the burnt ends, and get them while you can, because they sell out. The ribs are usually good, bit can be hit and miss. If you like creamy potato salad, you’ll like that as a side. The brisket is good and moist. The toast is also really great.
Ordered the two meat dinner with a side. For $1 extra got the beef brisket and burnt ends. I chose their signature fries. The amount of fries was huge enough for 2 people. Little bit on the salty side but the spice is good. The brisket was soft and burnt ends were mouth watering. Overall great food. But u got to stand in a line for at least 30 mins.
